Chapter 10 You Might as Well Please Me instead
"Hello, Ms. Seinfield. Mr. Hoyce has instructed us about your arrival. Please wait for him in the parlor." The receptionist courteously swiped the elevator card for Charlotte to enter.
Charlotte was feeling uneasy. Silas had known that she would come to his company for the contract, so she guessed it wouldn't be easy for her to handle it.
The elevator soon reached the top floor. Taking a deep breath, Charlotte walked out of it.
The door to the parlor was wide open. Silas hadn't arrived yet.
After Charlotte walked in, she took a seat and waited in patience.
Silas's assistant brought her a cup of coffee and then left. It was quiet in the parlor.
As if Silas was deliberately testing her patience, he didn't show up when Charlotte had waited for an hour.
Just as she was about to message him, suddenly, she heard a chuckle by the door.
"Sorry to have kept you waiting, Ms. Seinfield."
"Mr. Hoyce." Charlotte immediately stood up. Just as she looked up at Silas and was about to say something, she was interrupted.
"The suit you're wearing doesn't go well with your style, Ms. Seinfield." Silas sized her up.
Charlotte had a gorgeous face, and pretty feminine dresses would accentuate her charming figure the most. However, she wore gray suits during working hours with her hair tied up her head, which hid a part of her charm.
"I'm here to discuss the contract with you, Mr. Hoyce. There's a minor mistake, and the contract needs modification." Charlotte wasn't up for a chitchat and cut to the chase instead.
Silas just harshly turned her down without asking the details. "You made the contract, and you signed it. I'm afraid that modification isn't on the table."
What he said got Charlotte at a loss.
Obviously, he was aware of the mistake on the contract.
Charlotte gritted her teeth and threw caution to the wind. "If you agree to modify the contract by replacing the initial capital injection of 2 billion with 0.2 billion, I'll do my best to fulfill your requirement whatever it takes."
"Will you leave Jason and come to me?"
There was faint mockery in Silas's eyes. While Charlotte was silent, he continued, "I'm a businessman, Ms. Seinfield. Do you think I'll let go of such a great bargain out of your unsure promise?"
"I see. Sorry to have bothered you, Mr. Hoyce." Charlotte's face was quite pale. After she excused herself from Silas, she left with some gloom in her eyes.
Silas took his mug as he stared at her leaving back until it left his line of sight.
When Charlotte left the Hoyce Group's building, she felt that everything around her was spinning.
She didn't have much hope for getting Silas's agreement, but when he rejected her decisively, she still felt quite dejected.
She merely had three days, and what could she do to make up for the company's loss of 2 billion?
Beep!
Suddenly, there rang out a honk, which startled her.
Charlotte turned back when she saw Jason rolling down the window. "Get in."
"Mr. Langley?"
Charlotte was quite surprised to see him there. She pulled open the car door as she was told and got in.
As Jason looked at her dejected face, he knew that she had failed. He sneered and said, "Looks like you don't matter that much to Silas."
"I'm not familiar with Mr. Hoyce, but I'll take another shot." Charlotte gripped the contract in her hand hard. She wouldn't give up so easily, and she supposed there would be another chance for her to make Silas change his mind.
"Why would you come to him again?" Jason instantly got quite annoyed. "You'd better drop your idea of pleasing him and beg for my help instead."
"Do you know how to fix it, Mr. Langley?" Charlotte looked up with hope in her eyes.
Her pleading gesture made Jason happy. He fixed his eyes on her slender waist as he pinched it gently. "That depends on your hard work."
He meant that it would depend on her hard work in bed.
The hope in Charlotte's eyes gradually disappeared. She was required to fix the huge problem, and yet Jason still refused to let her off.
However, as long as she could handle the crisis, she would be able to break free from Jason. Perhaps she wouldn't suffer a loss by pleasing him.
Charlotte took the chance to sit on his lap as she touched his chest.
"Do you mean it, Mr. Langley?"
She was lowering herself, which it didn't satisfy Jason but agitated him instead.
He grabbed Charlotte's waist hard and said in a gloomy voice, "Is this how you pleased Silas just now?"
"No... Ah..."
Before Charlotte could finish her sentence, Jason went hard on her.
The chauffeur had rolled up the windshield. Jason didn't bother with Charlotte's protest and just did whatever he wanted to her. The tearing pain hit her so hard that she curled up, shivering, when he had enough.
When Charlotte got out of the car, she could hardly stand still with hickeys and bruises all over her.
Jason glanced at her and said indifferently, "Go fix your look."
Charlotte stumbled into the washroom. She had some spare clothes in her bag. Ever since she started sleeping with Jason, she would always prepare some spare clothes with her in case of emergency.
Obviously, such accidents had happened more than once.
Charlotte quickly changed her clothes and redid her makeup.
However, the hickeys Jason had left on her neck were too obvious, which she failed to cover with heavy makeup. She could only loosen her hair to hide her neck.
Charlotte felt powerless when she came out of the washroom, so she didn't notice that Veronica was walking toward her aggressively.
"Looks like your lover didn't agree to your request, Charlotte." Looking at Charlotte's dejected face, Veronica knew that she had failed and got complacent.
"I still have two days left. Your concern seems to be quite unnecessary, Ms. Jules." Charlotte looked at her nonchalantly as she tried to walk past Veronica to leave.
However, Veronica grabbed her hand at once.
"I'll get you out of Santurn some day!"
Charlotte looked at her with hatred in her eyes. "You're the one who replaced my contract, aren't you?"
"So what if I did that? Whom do you think Jason will believe, you or me?" Veronica's eyes were filled with provocation.
Charlotte was so pissed that she clenched her fists.
She didn't expect that it would be Veronica. She had thought that Silas had set her up, but now it seemed that she had underestimated Veronica's hatred against her.
Veronica sneered and shoved her away before she left with pride.
Charlotte was so furious that she trembled all over, trying to catch her breath with her hand against the wall.
When Jason came out of his office, he saw Charlotte with her hair loosened, who looked excessively attractive. Her eyes were filled with a kind of amorous charm.
As he recalled what they did in the car, Jason was about to walk up to her when he was stopped by Veronica.
"I'm here to deliver your lunch to you, Jason." Veronica acted like a good wife.
Jason shot her a glance with a slight frown on his face.
"I made this myself. Aren't you gonna try it?" Veronica looked up with a loving smile in her eyes.
"Come in." Jason turned around and walked into his office.
Veronica was overjoyed and immediately followed. Before she closed the door, she provocatively glanced at Charlotte, who was busy working.
