Chapter 6: Elizabeth Was Depressed
Hailey gave the order, and someone naturally went to handle it.
Elizabeth, depressed, could only stay by Victor's side.
The others, because Victor woke up and Wesley recovered from his illness, didn't dare to blame Sandra.
The butler, Zachary Baker, returned.
"Madam Cooper, Mr. Kyle Hill is here."
A faint smile appeared on Sandra's lips.
Hailey frowned.
"Weren't they at the hospital accompanying Emily? Why did he come here?"
It was enough as long as money was sent, and there was no need for them to come personally.
After all, Kyle was the president of the Hill Group, and if things got worse, they would be laughed at.
Zachary looked at Sandra awkwardly.
"Mr. Kyle Hill said that if it's over, he wants to take Mrs. Cooper back to the Hill Villa."
Hailey's face turned livid. "What? They started it! What are they up to now?"
She didn't like Sandra.
But since Sandra had already married into the Cooper family, she couldn't just let the Hill family take her back.
Zachary quickly shook his head. "No, Mr. Kyle Hill said he just wants Mrs. Cooper to go home and visit her family."
Everyone looked at Sandra.
Wasn't she just a despised village girl?
Why were her brothers so eager to see her?
Sandra smiled. "Zachary, did he bring the 50 million dollars?"
Zachary took out the check.
"Here it is."
Sandra raised her hand and put away the check quickly.
The people around couldn't help but disdain her. They had never seen someone so obsessed with money.
After putting away the check, Sandra added.
"Madam Cooper, don't forget the remaining money."
Hailey trembled with anger.
Sandra continued.
"Mr. Victor Cooper is as important as Mr. Cooper. So, you still owe me 200 million dollars."
Everyone gasped.
250 million dollars in total!
She said it so casually.
How greedy she was!
"Humph, Dr. Young has been taking care of Mr. Victor Cooper. How could you try to steal credit?"
Hailey's face darkened.
"Sandra, do you really think you have medical skills? Elizabeth has already cured Victor, and you are just taking advantage of the situation!" She spoke coldly.
Debra chimed in, "That's right. Dr. Young's medical skills are well-recognized worldwide. Sandra, it's not your fault for not understanding."
Everyone started accusing Sandra of greed.
Hurtful words were thrown at her.
Elizabeth approached. Seeing everyone supporting her, she was glad.
But then, she pretended to be depressed.
"Please don't speak up for me. Perhaps Ms. Hill really has medical skills."
She called Sandra Ms. Hill, clearly not thinking of her as Wesley's wife.
She even rubbed her eyes as if she felt greatly aggrieved.
"Madam Cooper, Mrs. Debra Cooper, now that Mr. Victor Cooper has woken up, I should leave."
Debra immediately held her hand. "Ms. Young, you can't leave. Victor still needs your treatment."
Elizabeth intentionally said, "Ms. Hill can handle it. After all, I don't have her good fortune."
Hailey sneered, "If someone steals your credit, you should fight for it instead of backing down!"
Elizabeth began to cry, looking pitiful.
Sandra glanced at them.
These three women were really something.
She scoffed.
"Dr. Young, since you claimed to have saved Mr. Victor Cooper, then you must stay."
Everyone was surprised.
Wasn't she just taking credit a moment ago?
Why did she suddenly give in?
Even Hailey and Debra were stunned, finding her behavior strange.
Sandra turned to Wesley, "Do we still need to greet your elders? If not, let's go home."
Wesley turned his cold gaze toward her.
The sunlight shone on his black suit.
Even his face softened slightly.
"Let's go home."
As soon as he finished speaking, Sandra grabbed the armrest of the wheelchair and pushed him forward.
Elizabeth felt a bit anxious.
She tugged on Debra's sleeve cautiously.
"Mrs. Debra Cooper, I think she's weird."
Debra waved her hand.
"She's just a village girl. There's nothing to worry about."
"But..."
Elizabeth still felt restless.
"But she really used silver needles to wake up Mr. Victor Cooper."
Debra looked serious, "You saved Victor!"
It was an affirmative statement.
And it was the "truth" in their hearts.
Elizabeth blinked and then understood.
She let out a sigh of relief and smiled, "That's what I should've done."
...
In the car on the way back.
Because of the Cooper family, both Sandra and Wesley remained silent.
Sandra looked out the window and opened it slightly to let in the breeze.
Her long hair suddenly flew in the breeze.
It slid down her shoulders.
And it even brushed against Wesley's cheek.
The atmosphere in the car instantly became less oppressive.
Wesley's cold eyes fell on her profile.
The gentle breeze, the bright sun, the white clouds, and the blue sky.
Everything was reflected in her beautiful eyes.
But her expression was indifferent.
Yet, there was a hint of arrogance in her eyes.
At that moment, she merged with the beautiful scenery outside the window.
Wesley was somewhat attracted to her.
Sandra had a lot on her mind.
She started feeling annoyed.
She even had the urge to jump out of the car.
Suddenly, Wesley rested his head on her shoulder.
The faint scent of medicine went up her nose.
She seemed even more agitated.
Instinctively, she raised her hand, intending to push him away.
But she glanced down.
From this angle, she could see Wesley's pressed lips under his straight nose.
His complexion was still abnormally pale.
He appeared aloof and distant.
But because he was sleeping, he wasn't aggressive at all.
He was frowning. Perhaps he had a bad dream.
Sandra's heart softened.
She gently placed her hand on his furrowed brows.
Wesley stopped frowning at once.
It was silent in the car.
Drowsiness overpowered Sandra.
It was the first time she slept soundly since coming down from the mountain.
By the time she woke up, they were already back in the villa.
Wesley was reading a book while she was lying on the small bed.
Karen knocked on the door and came in with a bowl of soup.
"Mrs. Cooper, this is for you."
With that, she placed the soup next to Sandra.
Sandra hadn't eaten breakfast or lunch, and now she was really hungry.
She picked up the soup and sniffed, but she frowned at once.
