CHAPTER 57

KENZIE The melody of his voice was beginning to drift away slowly and I reached out to get ahold of it but the ground opened up and swallowed me and even though I tried to reach for the surface and get ahold of his melody, knowing it would save me, I only sank deeper and deeper until the darkness swallowed me entirely. I woke up with a start and I tried to catch my breath. My arms subconsciously reached out to touch the other side of my bed and it felt warm and sunken as if someone who was supposed to be here was here. My eyes travelled to Connor's empty bed and my mind told me he had already left for the business meeting. A small frown crossed my face as I took in the sight of his perfectly arranged bed that looked the way it was yesterday. It looked so neat and crisp as though no one had slept on it all night. I sat up and an instant throbbing of headache hit me with so much force that caused me to cuss under my breath. Goddam these hangovers. The rest of the event that had hap
