You Really Are a Miracle
Elizabeth Liang finished paying with James Lu's wallet and returned. As soon as she walked to the door, she heard a joking voice coming from inside—
"You really are a miracle. How do people even end up in a hospital for banging someone? You amuse me, dude." As he said this, the man couldn't help but burst into laughter.
Elizabeth recognized that it was Isaac Bai, the doctor who had just treated James's wound. She wasn't able to take a good look at him in her panicked state, but she vaguely recalled that he was wearing a white coat, tall, and was somewhat sage-like.
Was he really the one laughing like a maniac?
"Shut up!" This voice came from James. It sounded a little angry, but also a little embarrassed, adding to that his injury, he didn't sound very intimidating.
"Okay, okay, okay, I'll stop now... Haha..."
"Do you want to get your a*s beat, Isaac? Should I tell your old man that you've got a fake antique in your living room?"
"Ahem... you're so serious! I'm just kidding! But seriously though, did you drink and force yourself on her? You smell like you just took a wine bath. Look at her neck, you did that sh*t didn't you? On her forehead too? Can't believe you're worse than an animal on the bed, when you're all fine and dandy and gentleman-ly on the outside.
“......”
"But you know, she looks so small and skinny like a strong wind could blow her away, I don't realize she could land a blow like this."
Elizabeth stood outside the door and clenched the wallet in her hand when she heard Isaac's words.
"How long are you gonna stand there for?"
Elizabeth was wondering whether or not to leave first when James spoke. She knew that he was speaking to her.
She stood at the door nervously and looked at James on the bed, then gave an awkward smile.
"Come in!"
"Wow, our brave little hero is here? Come in!" Isaac looked at Elizabeth with an innocent smile.
Elizabeth walked slowly over to the bed and looked at James, who was looking annoyed the moment she walked in. She swallowed and said, "Well... are you okay?"
Hearing this, James immediately exploded. "Do you wanna try?"
He shouted so loudly that Elizabeth instinctively shrank back.
"Why are you yelling? Don't scare her." Isaac turned to her, "Don't worry about him, he's always like this when it's his time of the month, you'll just have to excuse him."
Hearing Isaac's words, Elizabeth wanted to laugh, but she didn't dare. So she desperately held it in.
"Get f*cking lost!" James grabbed a paper cup from the bedside table and threw it at Isaac.
"Yo, I will!" Isaac nimbly dodged the cup and leaped to the door. "I invited Benny to celebrate you losing your virginity, his place, remember to come."
"F*ck off!"
Isaac went out but poked his head back through the door after less than five seconds. He said slyly, "By the way, I forgot to mention that I just informed your mother about your situation, and she is on her way here. No need to thank me."
Hearing this, James's face was terribly twisted. He was going to throw something else at him before Isaac escaped in a hurry.
"Um... your wallet..." Elizabeth handed the wallet to him. "The total was 732... I should've paid for it, but I didn't have any money on me... can you just make a note of it, and I'll pay you back when I can?"
She was the one who hit him, so she should've used her money.
"You came here just to tell me this?"
James glared at her, exasperated.
"Huh?"
He angrily pointed at his head. "You did this to me, and you didn't even think to ask me how I'm doing?"
Was she really that stupid?
"What?" Elizabeth paused in confusion. "I already asked you."
He remembered that she did ask when she just entered. "You..." He waved his hand. "Forget it!" He turned his back to her in frustration.
"..." Elizabeth didn't know what to say. Looking at the water on the bedside table, she felt thirsty. She was literally on her way to drink water back at the South Lake villa, but water was the last thing on her mind when all the shenanigans happened.
She took a paper cup and poured it to the brim. Just as she was about to drink it, she saw out of the corner of her eyes that James had turned around and was giving her a mean glare.
Seeing her looking at him in confusion, he said furiously, "Is this how you treat a patient?"
