“Can I leave now?”
Mia had regained the flush in her cheeks and there was a shine in her large eyes that had been missing for a while. A healthy glow surrounded her once more and Lorenzo couldn’t be happier.
The man shook his head as he offered her another glass of water.
“Sorry. You have to be in overnight. It’s only a safety measure. You’ll be released first thing tomorrow.”
Mia frowned but didn’t argue. She knew there was no hope. If the doctor’s didn’t retrain her to her bed, Lorenzo definitely would. Rafael wasn’t too far behind.
“It’s okay. Will you stay with me?”
Lorenzo kissed Mia on the forehead. The contact was fleeting but the small act healed both their souls. Mia closed her eyes and relished in the feeling. It was peaceful.
“Of course. I won’t go anywhere. I’ll stay by your side the entire time.”
Mia smiled but then grew worried.
“Where will you stay now? Do you want to share the bed with me?”
Lorenzo pointed to a large sofa in the corner.
