Chapter 19: The Miracle
I rushed all the way to the hospital. Then I rushed into the emergency room with Liana in my arms. The doctor instructed the nurses to put Liana on the bed and push her into the operating room.
I paced anxiously back and forth outside the operating room, silently blaming myself for not taking her with me earlier. I couldn't imagine what I would do if I did lose her.
Time passed very slowly. As each painful second passed, I heard a soft sound. I turned my head and saw that the red light in the operating room had turned green.
I hurried to the door. It was pushed open and Liana was wheeled out. I approached the doctor to inquire about the situation.
"The operation was successful, but she's not out of danger yet. It depends on whether she can wake up within the next twenty-four hours."
My heart, which was barely at ease, became nervous again. I followed her bed all the way to the ward but was stopped by the medical staff. It was the ICU ward.
I saw that Liana was connected to various medical equipment. She was lying there quietly like an exquisite doll placed in a display window. She was beautiful yet lifeless.
At this moment, I would rather she jump up angrily and scold me.
The corners of my mouth twitched. Martin came over to persuade me to go back and rest. I shook my head in refusal, telling him he should go.
He looked at me and hesitated. In the end, he left without saying anything.
I sat in a chair outside the ICU ward and buried my face in my hands. I kept praying to the Moon Goddess that Liana would wake up soon.
I had always felt that I was strong enough and that there would no longer be anything that I was afraid of. It was only at this moment that I realized that there would still be something that I was scared of.
I was afraid that Liana would leave me forever.
I found myself unable to deal with such an irreversible, ruthless outcome.
Panic almost drove me crazy!
Time passed ever so slowly, and I was restless until dawn. Liana still showed no signs of waking up. I couldn't wait any longer.
I looked at Liana's pale face and made a decision.
I quickly observed my surroundings. After confirming that the medical staff who had just come to check the ward would not return again, I pushed open the door of the ICU ward and entered.
I walked to the bed and gently stroked Liana's face. I sighed helplessly. "Silly woman, how could you be so careless to end up like this?"
I turned into my wolf form and pressed my forehead against hers. The mark between my eyebrows heated up slightly. I circulated the magic power unique to the Alpha in my body and channeled it slowly into Liana's body.
I used magic to heal Liana's body. I could clearly sense that the wounds on her body were healing rapidly.
I held back my sigh of relief. Although I knew that Alpha had a healing technique, I had never used it before. I didn't know if it could really heal Liana.
Soon, Liana's injuries began to fade and they were healed by my magic, but she still didn't wake up. I couldn't help but frown. "Could it be that there were still hidden injuries that I didn't know about?" I thought.
I controlled my magic power to scan Liana's body. I didn't find any other wounds. I didn't dare to stop transferring my magic power, but the weakness in my body reminded me that I didn't have much magic power left.
Just as I was about to run out of energy, I was pleasantly surprised to see Liana's eyes move. Then, she opened them.
I paused the transmission process and called her gently, "Liana?"
She seemed to be still in a daze and forced herself to look in the direction of the voice. I quickly transformed back into my human form and looked into her eyes. She seemed to be a little surprised and opened her mouth, but before she could say anything, she closed her eyes sleepily.
I pulled a wry face and pinched her cheek to vent my anger, but I didn't dare to use too much strength. After confirming that she was just asleep, I finally felt completely at ease.
I felt a sense of weakness after relaxing. I rubbed my temples and got up. After planting a kiss between Liana's eyebrows, I left the ICU ward.

*Alpha Pete Jacobs*
I learned from Hank that my daughter was pushed down the stairs by Irene and should have been taken to the hospital by Edmond by now.
Their tracks were not difficult to trace. My men quickly found them, and I also rushed to the hospital after getting the message.
However, I didn't reveal myself. I hid in the dark and observed this young Alpha. He seemed to care a lot about my daughter.
I narrowed my eyes, thinking that this was a very pleasant discovery. Of course it made me happy because I had now found a fatal weakness of a powerful and tough enemy of mine. Moreover, I would be able to take full advantage of his weakness.
It was simply too exciting.
I felt the most pleased when I noticed that he did not hesitate to use his alpha power to heal Liana.
"Pitiful young man, you might be killed by your passion."
I smiled pityingly as I saw him leave. I walked out of my hiding place and sat beside the bed. I reached out and pressed the emergency call button by the bed.
The doctor soon arrived. He was angry and surprised to see me in the ward, but he still chose to tend to the patient first.
"Sorry, my daughter seems to have woken up. I saw her open her eyes!" I apologized first and explained why I was here.
The doctor quickly examined Liana's body. Then, he was shocked and looked at Liana in disbelief.
"My Goddess, this is simply a miracle. All the wounds on her body have actually recovered? What's going on?"
"So, my daughter is fine now, right?"
"Yes, yes. She's just asleep now. When she wakes up tomorrow, we'll do a thorough checkup and she will stay another day for further observation. After confirming that she's fine, she can be discharged."
"Alright, thank you, doctor. You can go and rest now." I smiled and sent the doctor off. My gaze returned to Liana, and my smile gradually became meaningful.
A plan quietly took shape in my mind.

*Liana*
I vaguely felt that I was wrapped in a warm and gentle force, and the pain in my body seemed to have gradually dissipated. I couldn't help but moan softly and open my eyes in a daze. I thought I saw a familiar huge wolf. The silver-white alpha mark flickered between his eyebrows, but I couldn't see the exact shape clearly because my eyes weren't quite accustomed to the light.
"Edmond? Alpha? How is that possible?" I thought.
I laughed at myself in my heart. I thought Edmond was a beta. I was really stupid to have such a ridiculous dream.
My head was still very heavy. Exhaustion made my eyelids increasingly heavier. Before I completely closed my eyes, I saw that the giant wolf had turned into Edmond.
"What a ridiculous dream," I thought.
When I regained consciousness, the sky was already bright. I raised my hand to support my forehead and used my other hand to support myself on the bed. Then, I realized that I couldn't feel any pain in my body. However, I clearly remembered that I was pushed down the stairs by Irene!
"Was that not a dream?" I thought.
My eyes widened in shock. I wanted to pull back the blanket to check my condition.
"My dear Liana, you're finally awake!"
My father's surprised voice interrupted my thoughts. I turned to see him sitting on the edge of the bed, looking at me excitedly.
I recalled the scene I saw in my daze last night. Because I had an ingrained understanding of the fact that Edmond was a beta, the moment I saw my father, I immediately thought that the giant wolf I saw last night must have been my father.
After all, compared to Edmond, it was easier for me to believe and accept that my father had saved me with the power of Alpha.
"Dad... did you use alpha power to save me?" I asked tentatively.
"It's good that you're awake." He didn't answer me directly. He just rubbed my head affectionately, still looking worried and grieved.
I thought that he chose to avoid answering because he didn't want me to worry. I was very touched. I rubbed against his palm, greedy for this warmth.
After all, he was my father who doted on me since I was young. Even if I became suspicious of him because of my mother's death, I couldn't deny the fact that he was my father and that he loved me. I didn't suspect that he was deliberately guiding me to confirm this misunderstanding.
As for the fact I saw Edmond before I lost consciousness. I thought it was a blurry mix of dream and reality.
Everything kept pushing me away from the truth.
