Chapter 18: Please Bless Your Loyal Believer

*Irene* I was about to go to bed when I saw dad's omega squad running toward Nightsong from the window. "Could it be that bitch Liana pissed off dad and was finally going to be thrown out?" I thought. I couldn't help but get excited at the thought and immediately ran toward Nightsong to see it for myself. I could never miss a once-in-a-lifetime event like this. I wanted to go witness Liana's miserable state! Not far from Nightsong, I saw the squad surrounding the building. I was now even more certain I was right. The corners of my mouth curled up uncontrollably. I really wanted to see Liana's face. Just thinking about it made me feel overjoyed. Just as I was about to go over to look for dad, I saw a giant wolf leap through the upstairs window. It quickly got into a fight with the squad members. Its strong and brave figure fascinated me. My eyes remained glued to it, following its every move closely. When I saw the Alpha mark shining on his forehead, I almost cried out with my father. I had never seen such a young and powerful Alpha! I decided this man must be mine! When I saw that the human form was Edmond, I wasn't surprised. Instead, I felt that it was only right. I was about to go up and show him some concern when I saw him turn around and return to Nightsong. I quickly followed him and saw him hugging and kissing Liana at the staircase. Liana, Liana again! Not only did you seduce my father, but you also want to snatch my Edmond? My Alpha? I gripped the corner of my shirt tightly. Jealousy and indignation continued to brew in my heart. If Edmond didn't beg me to come, I would have thrown you out of the house already!" When I heard Irene's words, my mind wavered. I didn't think I needed this arrogant woman to take care of me now. I was angry at Edmond for deciding on this for me. "I don't need you to look after me. Please leave." You know what, I can't be bothered with you. When you're captured by dad's men, Edmond would be more grateful to me if I save you. I like the sound of that. Let's do that." I heard her say this with a smile. Her voice was filled with obvious joy and smugness as if I had completely fallen for her trick. I found myself imagining what would happen if I cooperated with her. The possible consequences immediately turned me off. "Wait!" I opened the door a little ways. "What? You're not hiding in your turtle shell anymore? You're such a troublemaker." Her mocking words were especially harsh. I couldn't help but feel angry. I walked to the stairs and stood opposite her. "Miss Irene, my name is Liana. If you don't even know how to be polite, I think Edmond has asked the wrong person to care for me." She seemed shocked that I would stand up to her. I saw her expression turn dark and angry after a short moment of shock. "Miss Liana, does your impoliteness mean you want to cause more problems for Edmond? He wanted to ensure your well-being before he left to do something important just to make sure you wouldn't become a huge burden to him." I saw obvious disdain on her face. Those disdainful eyes, undisguised as they scanned me, took my anger to the next level. "You're probably right. But Edmond is so crazy over me. I casually shook off her arm and walked past her to go downstairs. I wanted to make a pot of tea to calm myself down. "Liana, I really hate you... you should die!" As I brushed past her, I heard her mutter softly. I had a bad feeling, but I couldn't react in time. I felt a pair of hands push my back, causing me to lose my balance instantly. I instinctively waved my hands in the air in an attempt to grab the handrail, but in the end, I couldn't catch anything. My vision spun as pain shot through my body. I knew I was about to roll all the way down the stairs. The fear that my life was in danger made me scream. Finally, I felt the back of my head hit the floor hard. Some warm liquid was flowing out of my body. I vaguely saw Irene's backlit face filled with a ferocious and pleased expression. My eyelids were exceptionally heavy, and I finally couldn't hold on any longer. Then the darkness took me. *** *Edmond* I knocked down the last person who was besieging Martin with a punch. I flexed my sore wrist and greeted Martin before walking back. I was worried about Liana. Sometimes, that stupid woman was really gullible. Moreover, from the beginning, I felt uneasy. I hoped that she was alright. As I thought about it, I sped up. From afar, I saw Irene running out of Nightsong in a panic. The uneasiness in my heart intensified! I sped up again and rushed into Nightsong. "Ari!" When I saw Liana lying in a pool of blood on the floor, my mind went blank. I pounced on her and half-knelt beside her. I reached out to touch her, but I pulled back in fear. My mind flashed with the sight of those lifeless little wolves. The images gradually overlapped with my vision. My hand trembled as I reached for Liana's nose. The weak breathing woke me up from my trance. I quickly picked her up and ran out. Fear and anger twisted in my heart. I caught up to Irene and looked at her coldly. "Tell your father that if anything happens to Liana, I will bury your entire family!" After saying that, I didn't wait for her to respond. I called Martin to drive over. Then I carried Liana and got into the car to take her to the hospital. I would never want anything to happen to Liana. Moon Goddess, please bless your loyal believer!
