When Charles saw Vincent smile, he knew the old Vincent was back. He started the car. "I'll drive you home."
"No!" Vincent cut in sharply. "Take me to the hospital."
Charles blinked in surprise. "What for? Are you planning to cry over that charred corpse?"
"If we're doing this, we're doing it right," Vincent said. "If I don't make it convincing, how's Donald supposed to believe it?"
Charles raised an eyebrow and scoffed, "You really are something else."
Amie sat silently in the Rosewood Café. Her gaze was cold as she stared at the elegant woman across from her.
Joyce placed a cup of freshly brewed tea in front of her. "Ms. Morrison, give it a try. This year's harvest—it's got a wonderful flavor."
Amie glanced at the cup and replied coldly, "I'm not much of a tea drinker. Mrs. Lewis, you're being too kind."
Joyce looked at her and smiled. She took a small sip from her own cup and sighed in satisfaction. "Ah, fresh tea—there's a liveliness to it that old tea just can't match."
