Chapter 15

I didn't answer Sharon. After the bills had all fallen to the ground, I threw the bank card toward her. "Here's 500 thousand. I'll return it exactly as you lent it." After speaking, I turned and left without bothering to exchange another word with them. However, Sharon ignored the money on the ground and blocked my path. "Where did you get all this money?" I only stoically replied, "Where I got it from has nothing to do with you. Just remember that we're even from now on." "Sharon, why are you even wasting your time talking to him?" Javin sneered as he approached. "Other than selling himself, how else could he have made that kind of money?" "Kaelan, do you really have to degrade yourself like this?" Sharon roared. I turned around, unable to hold back anymore. "Mind your own business and stay out of mine." "Are you getting mad just because we spoke the truth? You're the one who's insulting Sharon with your dirty money, and yet, you don't allow people to talk about you?" Javin sneered again. "If you can earn half a million in such a short time by selling yourself, I'm sure you won't have trouble paying me for medical fees and emotional damages, right?" "If we're talking about emotional damages, you're the one who should compensate me." Seeing how shameless Javin was, I didn't want to waste more time on him. However, Javin grabbed my arm tightly, his hand pressing down on my wound. I gasped from the pain. As Javin's grip tightened, my scabbed wound started splitting open. I yanked my hand back with force. I hadn't used much strength, yet Javin fell to the ground. "I was only trying to make sure I'm treated fairly! You are a bully, Kaelan!" My wound was hidden under my sleeve, so they couldn't see what Javin had done and assumed I had pushed him. "Javin, aren't you tired of pretending?" I looked down at him. Javin, as if provoked, quickly rolled up his pants and sleeves, revealing his skin, which was covered in bruises and marks. "I'm faking it, you say? Are these injuries on my body fake too?" "That's enough!" Sharon draped a coat over Javin's shoulders, standing protectively in front of him like a mother shielding her child. "Kaelan, how much more are you going to bully others?" The others had now seen Javin's wounds. I couldn't make out their expressions, but I could hear their mocking comments. "A murderer like him should have been sentenced to death. Even if he's released, he's still a danger to others." "How deep must the grudge be for someone to act so cruelly? Javin didn't even know him before, right?" "Murderers are evil. You can't expect them to think like normal people." I pressed my lips tightly and rolled up my sleeve, revealing the brutal scars on my arm. "And what about the injuries Javin inflicted on me?" I asked. For a brief moment, I saw a flicker of emotion in Sharon's eyes. Javin, clearly panicked, immediately sat down and cried out in pain. Sharon quickly crouched down to comfort him, and the two whispered something to each other. When she looked up again, her gaze was filled with disgust. "Javin wouldn't have retaliated if you hadn't struck first. Even if you're hurt, it's your own doing. You have no one to blame but yourself!" Javin's few words were all it took for Sharon to believe him completely, without any need for verification. Most of my injuries were internal, except for the visible one on my arm. The rest couldn't be seen with the naked eye. Javin knew this and was confident enough to accuse me without any fear of being contradicted. "Why are we even talking to him? Just make him pay up!" Someone in the crowd shouted, and soon more voices joined in, demanding that I compensate him. I didn't miss the smug satisfaction in Javin's eyes.
