Caroline's initial nervousness vanished upon seeing Isabella. She had liked the girl from the photo and liked her even more now, finding her to be gentle and well-behaved. "Isabella," Caroline's smile became more natural, warm yet not overly eager, "I'm Vincent's mother." Sensitive as she was, Isabella could sense Caroline's change in mood.
