Chapter 288: Adelaide's Girlfriend

"Hello, this is Audrey," she began. There was a noticeable pause on the other end. In those few seconds, Audrey's palms began to sweat, and she felt inexplicably guilty. "Audrey," Adelaide quickly responded, "Is Smith there?" Audrey didn’t reply immediately, unsure of how she felt. When Adelaide asked again, Audrey tried to speak but was interrupted, "If he's not there, it's fine. I just got a call from Director Patrick asking if Smith can do a cameo." Audrey finally found her voice, "Smith is right here. Hold on, I’ll give him the phone." She turned to find Smith but was stopped by Adelaide’s next words. "Never mind, my girlfriend just called me. I don't have time now. Just tell Smith what I said and have him get back to me." Without waiting for a response, Adelaide hung up, sounding genuinely busy. Audrey stood there, phone in hand, feeling dazed. She replayed the conversation in her head. Did she hear Adelaide say "girlfriend"? Or was it "female friend"? While Audrey was
