CHAPTER 36: DREAM TERRORS
EMILIA'S POV
I yelled his name once more, but to no avail. I was too far away. I was too frail. The tears continued to pour down my cheeks and seep into the ground below. Seeing him and knowing that I was powerless to save him made my heart hurt. I was unable to save anyone.
The ground beneath me then broke open as my final breath departed my body. The world around me collapsed into emptiness, and I felt myself plummeting, descending into the abyss.
Then I was startled awake.
I sat up in bed, my heart thumping in my chest, and gasped, my breath ragged and irregular. My skin was cold and slippery, and I was soaked in perspiration. Around me, the room was silent and black. Realizing that I wasn't in the midst of a war took a time for my senses to adjust. That battleground was not where I was. It was only a fantasy.
However, everything seemed so genuine.
My cheeks were still wet and smeared with tears. My hands were shaking and my entire body was shivering from the nightmare's after
