The next few days were a blur of sadness and longing. All I wanted was to talk to my brother, Frederick. The thought of him worrying about me tore at my heart. I tried to keep myself busy, but the ache in my chest was a constant reminder of the distance between us.
One evening, as the sun dipped below the horizon, casting a golden glow over the Blackthorn compound, I found myself wandering aimlessly. My feet carried me to Baron's quarters, almost of their own volition. I stood at his door for what felt like an eternity before finally gathering the courage to knock.
