Chapter 1: Kicked out on the first try

Talia "Ma'am. Luna?" The pack doctor's call snapped me out of my daze. "Is everything alright? Shall I call for a nurse?" "I'm fine." I smiled at him. It was a genuine one, too. "I can imagine the alpha will be very happy to hear the good news. I'm sure an announcement will follow soon after.". I felt to myself. Nearly impossible more like Wishful Thinking. There was no way… "Yeah..." I trailed off and returned my hand to my belly. "Thank you, Doctor. But if the alpha and I wish to announce it, we will decide when." Oh I understand “Luna I will keep it to myself. Believe me when I tell you I'm well prized and well praised for my ability to keep secrets. It's safe with me and I will not breathe a word of it do anyone.” “Thank you Dr Marvin.” I said was another genuine smile despite just how much my heart was dumping in my chest. As soon as I left the pack doctor, I found Henry waiting for me outside. "Where to?" "Home. But try and make the drive a bit long. I would like to clear my head." I gave him a small smile and proceeded to the car. *** "Thank you, Henry." I smiled up at him as he opened the door. "It's my duty to serve you, my lady. Please let me know if there's anything you need." He gave me a bow once I stepped out of the vehicle. "Is there a problem, my lady? Your face isn't as bright as it was this morning." I raised my head to find Edna. "Yes. A few hours of rest will be fine for me. Please inform me as soon as my husband arrives." "Of course." She smiled and nodded at me. *** "Ma'am." I felt myself being stirred out of sleep. "The alpha is home and he says he would like to talk to you." I pushed myself up from bed. "Thank you, Edna." I cleared my throat as soon as I reached the entrance to the living room. I met Darius in the living room with a scowl on his face. "Hey." I smiled. "I need to talk to you about something." “ I didn't think we were for going titles but fine.” “ I'm sorry about that alpha Darius.” I said ducking my head. “It's fine Talia. I've been doing it for 5 years what's a few more minutes have to do with it? He gave me a fake smile strikingly similar to the ones he had always given me. "Me too. I need to tell you something. It's very important but you can go first." "I don't think it's that complicated but you need to leave. You know why. I can't have you here anymore." "What? No.” I shook my head. “We talked about this. This is me simply..." “But I'm sure things were going well.” I protested. “You expect things to go well when I'm with you?” He asked accusingly. Suddenly, he laughed, taking his face away from mine. "Of course I would expect you to be like this. You have never had the nerve to live beyond what you are doing." "I don't understand, Darius," I whispered. "Let me explain it to you, Talia," he said, walking up to me and stopping just a few inches away from my face. "I want you gone," he said slowly, almost as though he was reading the words for me. "Tomorrow morning, I don't want you here. I don't want to smell your scent. I don't want a trace of you in my house." "But I'm Luna," I said softly. For a brief moment, his eyes shone with recognition. "Not for long," he said, despite the sorrow his eyes held. "What do you mean?" I asked, meeting his eyes again. "You heard me, Talia. Not for long." "No, wait," I said just as he was about to brush past me to leave. "Give me a day. A day, I beg you. I can't just leave." "We agreed on this, Talia," he snapped at me, turning around with his sharp fangs in my face. I flinched and took several steps backward. "Don't do that. Don't play the victim, Talia. You're so good at it. So good at getting everybody on your side. But they don't know you like I do. They don't know that this filthy omega wormed her way into this position simply by her father's power. If only they knew that this wasn't a match made by the goddess herself," he spat in my face. "I will leave, Darius," I said with tears streaming down my face as I lowered my head in submission. "I will leave in one day. I just need time to pack…" I trailed off, but I watched him turn around and leave. "Luna?" I jumped, slightly startled. "Yes, Edna," I said, wiping off the tears from my face. "I know this is a bad time, but about dinner…" "I'm not hungry," I said and then brushed past her despite her clear indication of wanting to speak up. I stormed straight into my room and buried my head in my pillows with sobs racking through my entire being. "Filthy omega." I shook my head, trying to clear my mind of his words. "Wormed your way into this position." I shook my head again as I pulled myself upright and sat on my bed, staring at the dark walls. "I didn't even tell him," I whispered to myself as my hand slowly found my still flat belly. "He doesn't deserve to know," I concluded as I sternly pulled myself up to my feet and walked straight to my closet. "Where do I even begin?" I asked myself as I scratched my head. Feeling frustrated, I went back to bed and this time, luckily, sleep claimed me. "Luna. Luna." "Leave me alone," I muttered as I turned to the other side of my bed. "But Luna, there's something that requires your attention." "Leave me alone, Edna. I'll come out when I'm ready," I said as I continued to look away from her. "I understand, Luna," she said, and I listened to her retreating footsteps. "I hate the name," I found myself saying even though I didn't mean it. "It doesn't even suit me. I'm going to make a change," I said as I leaned upwards and sat on my bed. "Might as well see what you want me to see," I mumbled to myself as I pulled myself off from the bed and put on one of my robes lying around the room. "Edna," I called out. "Edna," I called out again but received no response. Just as I was about to head back into my room, I heard a giggle. It was too familiar. So familiar, in fact, that I couldn't help but walk towards the direction of where the sound came from. Darius's room. Last time I checked, Edna didn't giggle like that.
