500: GUIDED BY GRACE
LUKE'S POV
With Ariel still in my arms, I tread forward, going further, and when I had gotten closer to the road, I heard the sounds of Harriet's men. I turned around, staring at them. They were far from me, but with the way they were moving quickly, it seemed like they were going to catch up to us at any moment.
The voices of Harriet's men grew louder, cutting through the silence of the night like a hunting pack on the prowl. I felt the adrenaline pumping through my veins, fear and determination mixing in a potent, heady cocktail.
I spun on my heel, peering into the darkness behind me. The men were still far away, their shadows flickering in the dim light. But they were moving fast, closing in on us with every step.
"We need to move," I muttered under my breath, readjusting my grip on Ariel's unconscious body. "We can't let them catch us."
