Chapter 5
When Sienna returned to the Lang Mansion, she found that it was extraordinarily lively inside.
Clara, who had been examined and was not seriously injured, had returned home earlier than she did. At this time, she was having dinner with Keegan and Jonas.
Before Sienna went in, she heard Keegan’s concerned voice inside. “Clara, here. You’ve just been discharged from the hospital. Drink some broth to keep your strength up.”
Clara accepted it with a sweet smile on her face. “Thanks, Dad.”
This kind of happy scene had occurred countless times in front of the former Sienna.
This was her home, yet it did not seem to be. Her relatives were here, but it seemed as though there were none.
As she stepped into the villa, Sienna took a deep breath and forced herself to hold back the emotions that were not her own.
Clara’s eyes were sharp; she had caught a glimpse of Sienna’s silhouette.
Her eyes shifted, and she said coquettishly to Keegan, “Dad, you don’t have to worry. I just sprained my foot. The doctor said that I am fine. Sienna’s situation is more serious. She almost drowned yesterday…”
Keegan would have been alright with her leaving this out, but the moment when Clara brought it up, he erupted in rage.
“Don’t mention that evil-doer! I don’t have such a wicked daughter! Clara, you would not have fallen down the stairs if she hadn't acted so viciously! I don’t care about what a scumbag like her is doing. It’d be best if she died outside!”
Sienna, who had just entered the door, felt like she had been stabbed in the heart.
She could feel the few strands of consciousness that belonged to the original owner still inside of her, crying out in anguish.
What did she do wrong? Why was her father hoping for her to die?
After the anguished cry, this consciousness disappeared without a trace and dissipated completely.
Sienna sighed softly and whispered in distress, “You did not do anything wrong, silly. They are the ones who did not deserve you.”
When the maid inside the villa noticed Sienna's pale appearance, she abruptly raised her voice and yelled, "Oh! The fifth young lady is home!”
Sienna was originally fourth in line among the Lang family's original three sons and one daughter. But after Clara arrived, she had become the fifth young lady in the Lang family.
Keegan smashed his silverware on the table after hearing the maid shout, turned around, and barked aggressively, “You scum! You don’t know to greet me when you come back? Do you still see me as your father?”
“Oh.” Sienna, who had calmed down, disregarded the criticism and said slowly, “No.”
The little father-daughter bond that she had for him had also disappeared because of what he had just said.
For Sienna, this kind of father was out of her league.
Keegan was enraged by her answer!
“You rebel! You even dare to disagree with me now. What else are you not afraid to try?”
“A lot.” Sienna turned around and fixed her gaze on Keegan. The corners of her lips were curled upwards as she sneered, “At least I can tell the difference between right and wrong since I am not blind.”
“How dare you!”
How was it possible for Keegan to miss the irony in Sienna's words? He stood up abruptly and said angrily, “Great! Just great! You’re an adult now, and you’re independent, so you dare to challenge me openly now! Keep in mind that as your father, I still have the right to discipline you.”
After saying so, Keegan yelled at the maid standing at the side, “Bring my whip here!”
The maid took off running. Soon, a wooden box was handed over to Keegan.
When the box was opened, there was a long, black shiny whip with sharp barbs at the side.
This was the whip that Keegan had beaten Sienna with until she could not walk for a month when Clara had wrongly accused her of stealing other people’s belongings.
The young lady had cried every night for the entire month. She had sobbed uncontrollably until she felt thoroughly let down by this family.
Sienna still instinctively reacted with terror and grief when she saw the whip despite the fact that the young woman had passed away, and her consciousness had dissipated.
The whip Keegan had tossed was heavy and made a dull thud when it landed on the ground. He glared at Sienna angrily. “I will give you one last chance, you rebel. You can either kneel and acknowledge your mistake, or I will beat you until you learn your lesson!”
Clara still remembered the slap that Sienna had delivered to her at the hospital. When she saw that Keegan was enforcing the family discipline and rules, she felt very smug, but she still persuaded anxiously, “Dad, don’t be angry. I’m solely to blame. I fell down the stairs last night and caused her birthday celebration to not go well, as well as her drowning. Otherwise, she wouldn’t have gone against you due to her foul mood.”
These were skillfully worded comments that not only demonstrated Clara's goodwill, but also inspired everyone to stand up for her.
Indeed, Keegan felt distressed, and he comforted Clara by patting her head and saying, "You're too sweet, and you always put the blame on yourself. Don’t worry. I’m here, and I will bring you justice today!”
Justice?
Sienna laughed slightly when she heard these words. “Is this justice?
You did not use reason, and you’re using force to beat me into submission. What will you do to compensate me if you are blaming me wrongly, then?”
She was asking this sentence for the young lady who had drowned to death.
'What will you do to compensate me if you blamed me wrongly?
'Who can make up for the fact that my life ended last night?'
Even though this was a relatively brief sentence, it still carried a lot of weight.
Keegan froze for a moment. In the past, Sienna hardly spoke, and it was as if she was an invisible person. It was the first time he was dumbfounded by such a loaded question.
At this moment, Jonas could not stand it any longer and said, “There was only Clara and you on the stairs at that time. If you did not push Clara down the stairs, then are you saying that she fell herself?”
When Keegan heard this, his anger rose again. “Rebel! Kneel!”
He waved his whip and strode closer to Sienna.
Sienna did not even blink, and she said expressionlessly, “Come. I’ll be standing here. You can beat me; it’d be better if you beat me to death.”
Sienna’s father was the legendary God of War, who was a hero that once stood at the top of the world to defend his family and nation! It was not this eccentric scumbag who was blinded and could not even distinguish between right and wrong!
He was not worthy!
Sienna had riled Keegan, and his whip was about to fall.
At this moment, a clear and low voice suddenly came from the door. This voice was attractive and pleasant, but it was also oppressive and sinister at the same time—
“The awe-inspiring Mr. Lang is teaching his daughter a lesson. It seems like I came at a bad time.”
Everyone turned around at the sound.
They then saw a slender figure coming in against the light at the entrance. The person approached slowly, and his chiseled face was extremely handsome as his beautiful eyes seemed to be showing a half-hearted smile. The crowd was captivated at a glance.
Stunned, Keegan stammered, “M-Master Harry?”
