Chapter 12: You Can Call Me by My Name
Sandra knew that Wesley and Emily were childhood sweethearts and their relationship should be good.
Since they met, they naturally wanted to have a talk.
She didn't mean to disturb them.
So...
"I'll leave you two."
She turned to leave as if she was just a doctor here to see a patient.
She didn't give them any time to object, and she even thoughtfully closed the door behind her.
Wesley was shocked.
The five men looked at each other.
They thought that after saving Emily, Sandra would have all sorts of demands.
They didn't expect her to just leave like that.
They felt inexplicably uneasy in their hearts.
Emily had been staring at Wesley, unaware of their emotions.
Her eyes were filled with tears, and with a gentle blink, they spilled out of her eyes, making her pitiable.
"Wesley, I missed you so much."
She choked.
Wesley didn't say anything, his hands resting on the armrest of the wheelchair.
There was a button on the armrest. He could leave as soon as he pressed it.
Emily took several deep breaths before finally suppressing her emotions.
"Wesley, don't believe rumors. Sandra didn't do anything to me. I fell out of the car by myself.
"Sandra didn't do it on purpose, and besides, I have been occupying her family for over twenty years. I should repay her.
"Wesley, we are destined to be apart, but I still wish you well."
As Emily spoke, she carefully looked at Wesley's legs.
Although he was no longer in a vegetative state, he still seemed disabled.
Wesley's face turned gloomy.
"She saved you, or you would have become a vegetable."
Emily's face stiffened.
How... How could this be?
She couldn't believe it!
Wesley must have been angry with her because she didn't marry him.
She turned her head.
But she noticed that the expressions of the five men were strange.
Her heart sank.
What happened during the time she was "unconscious"?
"Wesley."
Emily sobbed, "Do you blame me for not marrying you? I..."
Wesley frowned impatiently.
"I just wanted to make it clear that this matter is over. There's no need to mention it again."
He paused and reminded her.
"You can call me Mr. Cooper like your brothers, or you can call me by my name."
After saying that, he pressed the button.
The wheelchair automatically turned and left the ward.
Watching him leave, Emily turned pale.
Wesley had never spoken to her in such a cold tone before.
Just now, they were in the same ward, but she felt like he was so far away from her.
Her heart pounded.
Panic!
Disappointment!
Uneasiness!
And... a bit of fear.
She trembled uncontrollably.
Kyle noticed it and gently supported her.
"Emily, just think of him as having fallen out of love with you."
Emily burst out crying.
"Kyle, how long was I unconscious?"
Kyle sighed, "Today is the third day of their marriage."
Emily was stunned.
Weren't they supposed to wake her up as soon as Sandra got married?
Why did it take so long?
Kyle knew she was anxious to know what happened, so he started explaining what had happened over the past few days.
"Sandra has medical skills. She must be the one who caused me to be unconscious!"
Emily angrily pounded the bed with both hands.
Sandra had been married to Wesley for three days!
During these three days, Sandra had taken advantage of her new identity as Mrs. Cooper and fit into the Cooper family.
She only had medical skills. It was no big deal.
There were plenty of doctors in the world. Why did Wesley fall for her?
It had just been three days!
Gary could see that Emily was upset, so he sighed and tried to comfort her in a low voice.
"Wesley is awake now, but after being a vegetable for so many years, he is still weak. Perhaps he..."
Kyle joined in comforting her.
"He might be worried that you would only think about him and not live your own life, that's why he treated you like this. He didn't want you to wait in vain."
Emily was a bit confused.
Was it really like that?
But...
Gary added.
"Emily, think about it. You've known each other since you were kids. How could he suddenly be so cruel to you?"
Implied in his words, Wesley had something unspeakable on his mind.
He had his own reasons.
Emily finally relaxed a little.
Kyle lowered his voice and comforted her.
"We all told you not to marry a vegetable. We said it was for your own good.
"Although Wesley is awake now, his condition is unstable. We hope you don't think too much."
After a pause, he made a decision and solemnly assured her.
"If Wesley really gets better, we will make Sandra divorce him and let you reunite with him. Alright?"
Emily finally smiled through her tears.
"Kyle, you're so good to me."
...
Sandra walked to the entrance of the hospital.
She had planned to go straight back to the Cooper Villa, but since she had a rare moment of leisure, she decided to go to the coffee shop across the street.
She had intended to just get a cup of coffee, but she found the shop overcrowded.
A fight had broken out inside.
A woman accidentally dropped the coffee cup on the ground.
The cup broke and she needed to compensate.
However, the woman blamed the waitress.
As a result, they started fighting.
Now the woman's hair was disheveled, her clothes torn, and she looked dirty.
The waitress' uniform was covered in footprints, indicating that the woman had been bullying her for a long time.
Moreover...
Sandra recognized this waitress.
"Rebecca?"
The waitress, who was pinned down on the ground and had no ability to fight back, was stunned. She had even forgotten to block the woman's hand and took a slap directly.
Sandra's face instantly darkened.
In the past, she often went down the mountain to buy things.
Rebecca Reynolds' family sold fruits and always reserved the best ones for her but only charged a small amount.
Over time, they became good friends.
Seeing Rebecca being bullied, Sandra pulled the woman up and threw her to the ground.
"How dare you bully her! Let me teach you a lesson."
She kicked the woman.
The woman groaned, "Who do you think you are? How dare you hit me! I'll call the police and have you arrested."
Sandra said in a cold voice, "Sure, go ahead and call the police. But before they arrive, you need to repay what you owe my friend!"
With that, she raised her hand and landed a heavy slap on the woman's face.
