Chapter 54: No Need To Pretend

Sarah looked up when she felt William’s presence. She gave him a bright smile before packing up all the technology and stationery from the bed. William sighed with relief, thinking Sarah would go to sleep with him. But soon after, he saw Sarah scurrying to the kitchen and placing everything on the countertop. “I got an idea, I have to finish this. You… you go to sleep,” Sarah said excitedly. Her eyes glittered and even though William wanted to stay up, he knew she wanted to do this alone before presenting the final, thought-out plan to him. He shook his head in disbelief before speaking. “Don’t go to sleep too late,” he warned, patted her head, and then left her to her own devices. William remained awake in bed, reading a new book Sarah had bought before the stress of the day make him drift off to sleep. He only awoke when the light from the window fell on his face.
