Chapter Ninety Two: Into the Darkness
"Where are we going?" Layla asked as she followed Canaan below the ground level of his house.
"Where we can train without disturbance," he replied, holding out a torch.
Layla thought they had gotten to their destination when they reached the basement.
However, the basement couldn't be used as a training ground. It was where the wines were stored, and the room looked too pristine and kept to have been the spot where Canaan went through his change.
He opened another door hidden in the ground at the back of the basement, and the two descended the stairs.
Canaan went in first, then he lit the torch up for Layla to walk in as well.
"Careful," Canaan cautioned as Layla descended the stairs.
The air was humid in that space, and it was pitch-black in there.
Layla waved her hand before her nose to clear the air before her.
The air was thick like it had stopped moving.
The reflection of the torch Canaan held was like a flicker of light amidst a swath of darkness.
