CHAPTER THIRTEEN - THE TRUTH HIDES IN SCARS
Christine's eyes narrowed as she studied Aria. "Finding everything alright?"
Aria's heart raced, but she kept her voice steady. "Yes, thank you. I was just getting Lucas's books."
Christine stepped into the room, her movements graceful yet predatory. "Funny, I don't recall mentioning which books. Yet here you are, in my son's private space."
Aria swallowed hard. "I'm sorry, I should have asked for more specifics. I didn't mean to intrude."
Christine waved her hand dismissively. "No need to apologize. In fact, why don't we have a little chat? Lucas is away on pack business, and I'd love to get to know you better."
Aria nodded, following Christine downstairs to the living room. Every instinct screamed danger, but she had no choice. She perched on the edge of the sofa, while Christine settled into an armchair, eyeing her like a wolf sizing up its prey.
"So, Aria," Christine began, her tone deceptively light. "Tell me more about your family. You mentioned they traveled a lot?"
