The car lurched as Dante turned the wheel and almost ran into another oncoming car. “Fuck. Fuck. Fuck,” he muttered, waving apologetically at the middle-aged man throwing him a finger and shouting a string of expletives.
“Did she say what they looked like?” Jace twisted in his seat, concern marring his face.
“No. Just that there are huge motherfucking wolves in her apartment and they killed someone. Who, I don’t fucking know. Maybe the cat.” I rubbed my face, wishing the car could move faster. I leaned out of the window to see the traffic were mostly clear, but even in Dante’s fucking race-grade car, we were moving way too slow to my liking.
“They must have followed you,” Dante said as he footed the petrol, going double past the speed limit.
“Obviously. Why the fuck else would they be there?” I muttered dismissively. “I should have know. Shit.”
“What do you mean?” Jace said. “You couldn’t have possibly known they would follow you over there.”
