Chapter 14 CONFUSION

REYNOLD Reynold could not believe how daring Vega was to talk back to him, not only that, she fucking yelled at him. How dare she! Thinking about how she walked out on him, made him mad with fury. She was really rebellious like he was told, and how dare she make him feel guilty? Those tears came from her eyes when he told her about how wild she was. She had cried, and he felt bad. He wondered what type of spell she used on him to make him feel so sorry for what he had said? No one had dared to be that rude to him before, not even Victoria. He couldn't understand why he suddenly became soft and speechless whenever he saw her. Seeing how she stared at his wolf portray him feel so good, he has never felt so good about anyone staring at his portrait like Vega did. This was alarming to him, he had better shut her out of his memory, though he wished she had agreed to work for him. Her smooth skin and her silky hair were how he wanted his model to be. If only he could make her work for him and also transform her into a model, he's sure that she would be endorsed by great companies in no time. He had eyes for good things, and he knew just what good things looked like when he saw one. When he got home, he met his sister Aria, who was preparing to go out. "Hey baby sister, where are you off to?" Aria was the only one who made him feel calm and loved. She ran into his embrace upon seeing him. "How did work go today?" She asked, staring at him with her big green eyes. "It went okay." He said faking a smile for her, he wanted to avoid seeing his sister worried over him. "Did something happen at the company today?" Of course, and she was good at observing him. She could tell if he was happy or sad, a good sister he has. "Nothing, Aria, I'm just tired." "Hmm, if you say so, by the way, brother, I'm going to my new modelling agency." She said, looking all giddy and happy. Reynold raised a brow at his sister, seeing her this happy meant she was up to something. "What modelling company are you talking about?" "Hmm, the new one I told you I auditioned for?" Reynold raised a brow at his sister, this didn't sound right. "Come on brother, don't look at me that way, remember I told you about it?" Reynold shook his head disapprovingly, which made Aria roll her eyes at him. The truth is, Reynold knew everything about his sister, he remembered what she told him about not wanting to work for his company but preferring to work as a model on her own. At first, he objected to this because he wanted her to be safe, he didn't trust his sister's safety to any company. Though he understood his sister wasn't like the rest of the others who sucked up to managers in order to get a role or become famous. Aria had grown up to become a fine woman who believed in getting where she wanted through her efforts. He couldn't be more proud of his sister. He had already had the company she was going to work for investigated, and he found out they were clean and also a fast-rising company in the industry. Actually, he was quite impressed with the company, and he intended to bring it to the limelight. He wouldn't do that now though, because Aria wouldn't feel comfortable. He's very sure she hid her identity as a princess. She's so modest, and he wished whoever her mate was would take good care of her. The fact that she would leave him someday to be with her mate made him feel sad, he wondered how he was going to live when that time came, knowing how lonely he felt even when he had a mate. "Okay, baby sister, I was just kidding with you." Aria chuckled at him. "Of course I knew you were just kidding, you know I know you best." She said, smiling happily at him. "Don't forget, take Caleb with you." Reynold said to his sister. "I won't". She said, walking out of the house, he couldn't help but admire how beautiful his sister looked. She would make a fine model who would captivate the modelling industry, he thought to himself. Just as he was thinking about his sister, Victoria's car came into view. Seeing her appearance suddenly reminded him of Vega. Hell no, not Vega again, this was his mate, not Vega. For goddess' sake! What has come over him? Victoria marched into the house in anger. From her expression, he could tell someone must have pissed her off. "Your Majesty, I think I'm being wronged now." Reynold raised a brow at her, seemingly confused. "What are you talking about?" He asked. "I went to the company thinking I would find you there only to hear the employees gossiping about me that I came to the company some days ago with some rogue Reynold froze. Shit! Those blabbermouths deserved to be fired! And he will make sure of it. "I think there's a mix-up here, I certainly wasn't the one they are talking about because I have no double...." "Wait a minute, I do have a twin, a lost one though." She stared at Reynold suspiciously. "Is there something going on that I don't know?" He just wasn't going to be the one to tell her about Vega. "I don't know what they are talking about." Victoria seemed to be silent for a while. She stared at Reynold, hoping he would give a hint that would confirm her suspicion, but he was as hard as ever. She never could read his expression, even after being with him for so many years. Every so often, she felt exhausted by him. Her instinct told her that Vega was very close to her, all she needed to do now was find that identical woman they talked about. There couldn't be another identical person to her apart from Vega, and if what the employees said was true, that only meant Reynold was not telling her the truth. But why would he hide the truth from her unless he had found out about Vega's true identity, Victoria almost gasped but realised she was still in Reynold's presence. She had better be careful with the way she acts, though she knew her sister was not that wicked, she would never put her family in danger. But if it was true that Vega had finally shown up, then she wasn't safe anymore. It meant her position would be threatened, what if one day the Lycan king found out, things would be so bad for her, especially when she had just discovered who her real mate was. Damn it! She didn't want her mate, he wasn't a Lycan but just a regular wolf who was a beta to an infamous pack. When she discovered her mate, she told him that she was already marked by the Lycan king, he would be a fool if he tried to say that to the ears of people because he might just get himself killed. Though she had sex with him several times because she couldn't resist the mate bod and considering the fact that the king had refused to have sex with her ever since he brought her to the castle. She couldn't be blamed for having sex outside, but that didn't mean she would give her position away as the queen and Luna of the Lycan king. Her mate had been so ridiculously demanding over the years that he had threatened to tell on her to the king if she refused to have sex with him. Most times he made her bring him money. His present demand was for her to find a spot for him in the company. What was she to do now? She wouldn't dare bring him to Reynold's company, and besides, he was very strict with those he employed, not to mention the fact that he got them investigated before employing any. This was really a tough time for her, and now Vega shows up? Definitely, she would nip Vega in the bud before she tried to make things harder for her. Victoria had intended to look for her sister throughout the country. At first, when she heard Vega had run away, she was happy because she felt she was safe and her secret was also safe. But now that she had decided to show up, she would make her go back to where she came from, the Lycan king must not find out she was his true mate. Besides, Vega had never wanted him, she thought he was an old man from the onset. Well, that was because she never had a phone, and so she didn't know how famous and handsome the Lycan king was. Why wouldn't she seize the opportunity to be with him, in a way Vega helped her get him because she was sure it was the mate bond from Vega that made him mistake her for his mate. A YEAR LATER Victoria had searched everywhere for her sister, but she couldn't find her, it was as though she never existed. How was it even possible? She wondered. All those who carried the rumours about seeing her in the company were fired from the company, which was weird. When she asked about the reason they were fired, she was told that they were sacked by the Lycan king himself. How strange it was. Why did it seem as though Reynold was trying to hide something from her? She thought. If these sets of people who carried the rumour were fired, then it could only mean Reynold didn't want her to find her sister, or maybe he knew about her search for her sister? She decided to lie low for fear that the king might be investigating her. She had a lot to hide, and she could not afford to bring disaster upon herself. Victoria decided to ask her mate Ivan, to find her sister, she could not trust any investigator now. Ivan, on the other hand, demanded to work in Reynold's company as compensation. She agreed to his request, even though she knew that wouldn't be possible. Sometimes she wondered why the moon goddess had to pair her with someone like him. Though he was big and had hard muscles, he still wasn't as handsome as the Lycan king, nor was he as famous or wealthy as him. Victoria did nothing but spend Reynold's money without working or helping him in any way possible. All she wanted was fame and recognition as the Lycan Queen. Whenever she went for shows, she didn't fail to show off the expensive jewellery, shoes, and outfits she bought. She made the Lunas of other Alphas jealous. When she was asked what she did, she would always lie about supporting the king in his other businesses, just to make them look at her with so much respect she never really deserved. Meanwhile, Alpha Blake always supported his daughter in whatever she did, it was as though he had forgotten he had another daughter. Ever since he found out she had left of her own accord, he stopped searching for her. He rather focused his attention on Victoria. Everyone in the pack had also forgotten the existence of Vega, and they lived happily without her. The only person who still searched for her was her uncle, Mike. He had told the Alpha to search for his second daughter, but he never listened to him. It was disheartening for Mike to know that his brother never cared for his missing daughter at all; he only cared about Victoria, which everyone knew about. How disappointed Luna would feel wherever she was. If only she were alive, he was sure Vega would never have left home.
