Mayra didn't tell Gordon that she moved out of the apartment. She returned to her rented room and took off her jacket before hanging it behind the door. She cooked something simple to eat. The cold wouldn't kill her, and she had gotten used to struggling through illness on her own. After having something to eat, she caught up with all the homework she failed to finish and thankfully, the three days she wasted happened to be school holidays. At 11:00 pm, Mayra sat in a small room in front of her table as she worked restlessly on her mock papers. Getting into Candor University was her only chance to change her fate, and she didn't want to miss it. She held a cup of warm water in her hands to keep her from freezing. It wasn't until her alarm went off that she stopped and looked at the clock next to her. It was already midnight. She finished the last question before heading to bed. She turned off all the lights and left one dim lamp on. Laying in bed, she closed her eyes, a
