Joan sighed. "It's still hard sometimes. I find myself constantly looking over my shoulder, especially when I'm out in public. And loud noises... they still make me jump."
"That's a normal response to trauma," Dr. Zaya assured her. "Have you been practicing the mindfulness exercises we discussed?"
Joan nodded. "Yes, I've been doing the breathing exercises every morning and night. And I've started keeping a journal, like you suggested. It helps to get the thoughts out of my head and onto paper."
"Excellent," Dr. Zaya said. "How about your sleep hygiene? Have you been maintaining a consistent sleep schedule?"
"I'm trying," Joan admitted. "It's still hard to fall asleep sometimes, but I've been avoiding screens before bed and using that relaxation app you recommended. It seems to help."
