Have Some Shame
"Because you're a drag." Theodore Chao looked at her, expressionless.
"Ha..." Elizabeth Liang couldn't help but laugh softly.
He had been engaged to her since she was a child. Through all these years, no one was as gentle and caring to her as he was. She really thought that he was the one.
He told her a month ago that he needed to go abroad for official business. She sent him off at the airport, and he told her to wait for him to come back...
Wait for him, so he could be with her cousin, and tell her that she's a drag?
A drag?
"Just because I didn't sleep with you?" Drowned in sadness, she stared into his eyes, hoping to find a trace of dishonesty.
But there was none.
"Elizabeth, we've known each other for so long. Leave before things get ugly."
Elizabeth felt like she had just heard a joke. "You want me to leave this place? This is Liang estate! It's mine! My parents left it to me!"
"Yours?" Like a smug villain, Charlotte Dong grabbed a document off the coffee table beside her and showed it to Elizabeth. "Take a good look, does it say the house is yours, Elizabeth?"
Elizabeth looked at the paper in Charlotte's hand. The words "Property Transfer Agreement" printed in big letters made Elizabeth immediately widen her eyes.
It took her a while to finally calm down. "You thought you could deceive me with this careless imitation of my handwriting?"
"Who said it's fake?" Josephine Liang flipped her hair. "Didn't YOU sign it last night? So many people were watching. Are you trying to deny it, sis? Hmph! Like you can!"
In her muddled memory, she did vaguely recall Josephine bringing her something to sign. What did Josephine say at the time? Josephine said that was alcohol sent in by the karaoke manager, so they needed her signature.
Ha... Josephine waited till she was drunk...
"No... no..." Elizabeth shook her head hard. She never could have imagined that her uncle's family would treat her like this.
"By the way, the company shares don't have anything to do with you either." Charlotte took out another document and waved it boastfully, "You signed this last night too."
"What?" Elizabeth looked at Charlotte in utter disbelief, as if she had been struck by lightning. She couldn't understand what she meant.
"What am I saying? I'm saying that you have already transferred equity ownership to us. In other words, the Liang Company no longer has anything to do with you either. Get out of here!"
She looked at the people in the room and seemed to finally understand. "You set me up? It isn't enough to get me drunk then sign the transfer contract, you use me as a tool for business to top it all off?"
Charlotte snorted, "I guess you're not too stupid!"
Elizabeth finally couldn't bear it anymore and collapsed to the floor.
No! This house, and the Liang Company, they were left to her by her parents. She can't give them to anyone else!
Elizabeth rushed forward to grab the contract. She was going to tear it up!
But Charlotte was prepared. She hid the contract behind her and pushed Elizabeth back with her other hand.
Elizabeth stumbled and fell to the ground. Her forehead hit the corner of the coffee table. She felt a pang of pain and dumbly reached out to touch it. The vivid red blood was a frightening sight.
Charlotte's face moved for a second as she looked at her, but then quickly hid her startle. "Don't act like you're dead!"
Elizabeth gritted her teeth and propped herself up with the coffee table, she wanted to grab it again. There was nothing in her head except the determination to grab the contract back.
Josephine stepped forward and gave her a heavy slap in the face. "Have some shame, Elizabeth!"
This slap was a long time coming.
Her father had replaced Elizabeth's father and took over management of the Liang Company years ago, but Elizabeth was always the equity holder, while August Liang only had 5% of the shares.
Their family moved into the Liang mansion in the name of taking care of Elizabeth. They've been waiting and enduring all these years for this day.
And now, with the help of Theodore, they had successfully messed with Elizabeth's inheritance documents. They never have to care about her ever again.
August finally spoke, "Enough, Josephine, she is your cousin after all."
"But dad, the Liang mansion is in our hands now, and the Liang Company has nothing to do with her anymore. I don't care if she's my cousin or not!"
Elizabeth's eyes were red from anger. "This is all mine! Give it back!"
Josephine answered in a frivolous and mocking voice, "In your dreams!"
"You..." Elizabeth looked at the people in the room and clenched her fists tightly. Her nails digged deeply into her palms, but she didn't feel the pain. "Just wait, I will take back what's mine!"
Charlotte ran out of patience and shouted at the nanny beside her, "What are you waiting for? Hurry up and kick her out!"
