Back at the banquet, everyone had already taken their seats. The extended family of the Lamberts was arranged in a large private room of the banquet hall. The long dining table was already filled with guests. Christopher slowly entered, saying, "Grandpa's not feeling well, so he won't be attending." Carlos apologized, "I should've considered it more carefully. Mr. Lambert Senior likes peace, but I organized a lively banquet." "No worries on that, Mr. Leishman," said Brennen Lambert, another uncle of Christopher. He raised a glass to toast Carlos before casting a glance at Christopher. "This birthday celebration probably wouldn't have happened if it weren't for your efforts." The implication was that he was blaming Christopher for prioritizing his own leisure over Howard's birthday. Christopher merely swirled his wine in his glass, showing no intention to rebut. The dozen or so people at the table had plenty of opinions, but Adeline remained silent as usual and continued eating.
