My eyesight had nearly returned to normal, so there was no longer any reason for me to stay in the hospital. The next morning, after breakfast, I handled my discharge paperwork, called James to bring my things home, and then headed to the hospital to visit Grandpa. The room was eerily quiet. Grandpa was sitting on the bed, while Evelyn was seated on the couch, both of them turned away from each other, avoiding eye contact. As soon as I walked in, I could feel the tension in the air.
