Serena’s hands on her knees slowly clenching. Matthew paused; their lips were just the width of a paper apart, their breaths entwined. A slight forward movement, and they would be kissing. Serena's eyes slowly widened, her heart, after intense compression, surprisingly became calm. Matthew's gaze turned cool. He straightened up and stopped looking at her, offering no explanation for his actions. He went straight back to the study and closed the door. After closing the door, he glanced at the location of his heart. Throughout, the heartbeat remained steady. It seemed that the brief disturbance upon hearing her call him Honey was just an illusion. He pursed his lips, no longer dwelling on it, and opened the nearby computer to deal with affairs. Serena also returned to her room. Just as she was about to lie down on the bed, her phone began ringing frantically—Ella calling. She didn't want to answer, so she directly hung up. But the other side was persistent, as if not answering would keep
