Benson spent the entire afternoon in his study, handling work while the sunlight streamed through the curtains, illuminating the piles of documents on his desk. The heavy atmosphere was broken by a knock on the door. His secretary, Maria, entered with a hesitant and concerned tone, saying, "Sir, your wife is back. She's in the living room and seems to need to talk to you. Would you like to go see her?" Benson was slightly taken aback to hear that Yvonne was back. He had expected her to return later.
