Chapter 15

Queenie looked at the elderly man and smiled while explaining, "We both run the shop." The elderly man smiled back at Joanne. He was pleased with Queenie's honesty. Queenie didn't vainly claim that she was the shop's owner. "What do you have to eat here? I'd like to try something." The man looked ready for a meal. It put Queenie in a bit of a spot. "We've sold out of breakfast but still have sausages and milkshakes. Are those okay for you?" Queenie wasn't sure if he could eat those, so she asked. Impressed by Queenie's politeness and consideration, the man responded, "I can have those. One of each, please." "Sure, just a moment." Queenie turned around and prepared a sausage without adding any seasoning. Meanwhile, Joanne made a warm milkshake at the counter and brought it over. "Sir, this is our signature milkshake. It's a bit chilly today because of the rain, so I made you a warm one." The elderly man tried both and found them quite good. The milkshake wasn't too sweet and tasted just right. Besides, the sausage had a crispy exterior and was juicy and flavorful. It even had a hint of sweetness to it. It was very delicious. "These are great. I'll take another set to go. How much for everything?" He asked after finishing. "The signature milkshake is eight dollars, and the sausage is four dollars. It will be 24 dollars for two sets." Joanne handed him a receipt from the counter. The stylish elder man knew how to pay by phone. After paying, he asked, "Did you purchase the crocheted items?" "I made those myself," Queenie answered. Once again, the elder man was impressed. He had examined the crocheted items, and they were more skillfully crafted than those made by his late wife. "Could I buy those dolls in gowns?" He pointed at the beautifully crocheted red dolls on the counter. They looked very exquisite! "Of course." Queenie carefully wrapped the dolls for him. After receiving the payment, she escorted the man to the door. Queenie helped the elderly man down the steps and reminded him, "Watch the steps, sir. They are slippery. Be careful." The elderly man opened his umbrella and nodded appreciatively before leaving. Not far away, a black Rolls-Royce was parked under a tree. Seeing Harry approach, the driver quickly got out, took the umbrella from him, and helped him into the car. Once inside, the driver glanced at Harry through the rearview mirror and asked, "Mr. Newman Senior, shall we go home?" "Let's head to the company." Harry was in a good mood after his pleasant experience at Queenie's shop. Even the thought of meeting his troublesome grandson couldn't wipe the smile from his face. Soon, the driver pulled into the underground parking garage of Newman Group. After parking the car, Harry took the executive elevator straight to the top floor. His unexpected visit caught the receptionists and Jeremy off guard. "Mr. Newman Senior, what brings you here?" Jeremy was shocked to see Harry. It was pouring outside, and he didn't expect Harry to be out and about. "Just strolling around. Where's Joshua?" Harry sounded totally different from how he spoke to Queenie earlier. He exuded authority as he made his way to Joshua's office. "Mr. Newman is in a video conference. Perhaps you could..." Jeremy began, but Harry had already opened the door to Joshua's office. As soon as the door swung open, Harry was nearly overwhelmed by the strong scent of perfume. His expression darkened as he saw the person inside, but he kept his composure. Joshua was quick to read the situation. He immediately ordered the young and attractive deputy manager from the sales department, "You can go now." "Yes, Mr. Newman." The assistant wanted to greet Harry as she walked past him. But seeing Harry's stern expression, she hurried out without a word. After she left, Harry opened the window to air out the office before sitting down on the couch and placing the items he had bought at Queenie's shop on the coffee table. "Grandpa, what brings you here?" Joshua sat down on the couch, too. He didn't pay much attention to what Harry had placed on the table. Upon hearing that, Harry suddenly smiled at Joshua and gently said, "I came to ask how the plans for me having a great-grandchild by next summer are coming along."
