Brandon's gaze met mine, his eyes revealing a turbulent mix of emotions, including fear. I understood what was on his mind. "Let's get to the bottom of this. We should trust Ellie." We were in the OB-GYN department, and Ellie, a young unmarried woman, was there. As her brother, Brandon's anxiety was understandable. He visited her after he came back, but I didn't.
