Jasmine and Antonio hurried back to their makeshift headquarters, a nondescript apartment in a quiet part of town. The adrenaline from their near-miss with Carlos was still coursing through their veins as they burst through the door, startling the group of Marco's men who were waiting for them.
"What happened?" Sal asked, jumping to his feet. "You two look like you've seen a ghost."
Jasmine took a deep breath, trying to calm her racing heart. "We almost got caught. Carlos spotted us, but we managed to hide."
Antonio nodded grimly. "It was too close. We need to be more careful moving forward."
