CHAPTER FIVE HUNDRED AND NINETY ONE – LET THE COURTS DECIDE
The trial began with opening statements. Jana's lawyer painted a picture of a hardworking, dedicated employee who had been unfairly targeted and dismissed without cause. He spoke of discrimination, of Jasmine feeling threatened by Jana's talent and drive.
When it was their turn, Harold stood, his voice calm and measured as he laid out their case. He spoke of a pattern of bullying and manipulation, of a toxic work environment that had threatened to destroy the studio Jasmine had built.
"Ladies and gentlemen of the jury," Harold concluded, "over the course of this trial, you will hear testimony and see evidence that will make it clear: Mrs. Cesaro's actions were not only justified, but necessary for the wellbeing of her employees and the survival of her business."
