Chapter 23

"Edward, watch out!" There was a loud bang, and before I could react, the airbags had deployed and knocked us out. When I came to again, I dimly registered that Estelle and I had been wheeled into the emergency room. Fortunately, neither of us sustained any serious injuries. Estelle's arm had several abrasions, but that was about it. I had only just let out a breath of relief when I saw that the Sherwoods had gathered outside the emergency room. Mrs. Sherwood was beside herself with panic and worry. Mr. Sherwood, on the other hand, looked thunderous as he argued with Luna. But none of that mattered. I was only worried that they would learn of my condition. It wasn't something I was prepared to share with anyone at the moment. In the cot next to mine, Estelle slowly opened her eyes.
