The ride was filled with an uncomfortable silence. Alice was lost in her thoughts, and James seemed to sense her unease. He cleared his throat, attempting to break the tension. "Are you doing okay?" James asked, concern lacing his voice. She hesitated for a moment, trying to come up with an excuse. "Oh, it's just a rough night's sleep. Nothing to worry about." Though unconvinced, James nodded, deciding not to press further. "Alright, if you say so. But remember, I'm here if you need to talk." Alice nodded, appreciating his understanding. As they reached her office, Alice got out of the car and turned to James, offering a genuine smile. "Thank you for the ride and for being so understanding, James. I appreciate it."
