Chapter 3
"It's so late. Where are you going?"
Henry's eyes were cold, "Get out of the way!"
There was mist in Sandy's eyes. She raised her left hand and a diamond ring gleamed in the light.
"Henry, I'm very curious. Why did you give me this ring in the first place?"
Henry's face was taunting. He didn't look at her and went straight past her and left.
"In the past two years, what am I in your heart?!"
Sandy couldn't help yelling at him anymore.
In the past two years, she has never had a happy day. What she sees every day is the affair between him and different women.
Henry's footsteps stopped, and the phone suddenly rang.
He picked it up.
The door of the study room was not closed. Through the half-opened door, Sandy could see Henry's gentle eyebrows, and a frivolous voice came, "You will know how I am going to clean you up later."
Little by little she slipped and sat on the ground. Sandy buried her head in her knees, but she couldn't shed a single tear. She didn't know how long it took before she stood up, threw the two movie tickets in her hand into the trash can and without even looking at it, she shook her body and returned to the bedroom.
...
When she woke up in the morning, Sandy looked at the two obvious dark circles in the mirror. She was in a daze.
She was obviously only twenty-three years old, but her mentality was as if she was thirty-two years old.
Yesterday was the second anniversary of her and Henry's wedding. He held the gift box and roses to spend a romantic night with other women, leaving her alone in a deserted room.
Sandy took the liquid foundation to cover her haggard face, and then chose a light coffee-colored work outfit. Although the clothes were dull, the V-neck and waist design made her slim but beautiful.
She changed clothes and went downstairs.
Her mother-in-law Thea was frowning and confessing to Fel. When she saw her coming downstairs, she stuffed an entertainment newspaper to Fel without a trace, and walked towards Sandy.
"Sandy, you're awake."
"Yep."
Sandy looked at the hallway. The carpet was empty except for her pair of high heels.
Thea followed her gaze and saw what Sandy was thinking. She was a little embarrassed and wanted to explain a few words for her son, but Sandy said first, "Mom, I have something to do in the morning, so I won't eat breakfast."
After speaking, she put on her shoes and opened the door directly to leave.
Sandy knew what her mother-in-law wanted to say to her. She had tried her best to fix her marriage with Henry. In this family, she is probably the only one who sincerely hopes that the two will still be together.
Only now, she didn't want to listen to explanations that she no longer believed.
When she arrived at the company, Sandy went directly to the office. Not long after sitting down, Assistant Aki, Ruffa's assistant, knocked on the door and came in.
"Director, there is a document here that needs your signature."
Seeing Assistant Aki hesitated to speak, Sandy casually said, "What else is there?"
Assistant Aki immediately said, "It's Director Ruffa. She said she was scared recently and asked for three days off. Look..."
Director Ruffa is the supervisor who Henry personally promoted to the design department, and the person who was kidnapped by Sandy based on Henry's misunderstanding yesterday.
After signing, Sandy quickly lost expression, "The company does not need an employee who has been fishing for three days and spending two days on the net, so she can go directly to the personnel department to settle her salary."
"But...", Assistant Aki frowned.
Sandy sneered, "If I remember correctly, this is the third time she has asked for leave this month. The first time she had a headache, she asked for three days, and the second time her aunt asked her for a week."
Assistant Aki sees Sandy was a little angry, so she quickly silenced and took the file out.
Hearing the sound of closing the door, Sandy threw the signature pen all at once and the fatigue on her face couldn't be covered.
...
In the afternoon, Sandy gathered up the information on the Galaxy Bay project. Since Manager Liam said that Lucas had acquired the Galaxy Bay project, she decided to go to him to try her luck.
As soon as she got out of the office, she heard a hot discussion among female employees outside--
"Look, look, this is Lucas, Chief Lucas of the Johnson family! I heard that he is going to take over the Johnsons this time when he returns to China!"
"Tsk, he doesn't care about his family. I heard that on Wall Street, he once built a company by himself and sold it at a high price when the company was at its peak. Soon after the global financial crisis, that company was affected. He bought it back at a price that fell below the limit and put it back into operation. At present, his own wealth cannot be estimated. He ranks No. 1 in Junction town as the man that most women want to marry."
"I heard that he is nearly thirty-three years old, but he is still single. He's OC when it comes to cleanliness and self-conscious! Such a perfect man, I don't know what kind of woman is worthy of..."
The voices of several women were not soft, especially Cindy, her new assistant, with bright eyes on the immature baby face, staring at the magazine in front of her.
Sandy followed her gaze and saw the Junction town celebrity magazine with the cover of Lucas, the current CEO of Johnson's Group.
