65 The Disturbing Past

Later that day, “Your mother's remains cannot be exhumed, you should learn to respect other people's past and allow it to rest. She was your mother, that I do not dispute but I can't let you disrespect her! Let her rest; that's the only thing you can give her now that she is gone.” Steve’s words cut across her heart but she didn't stop at that. “This is the closest I have come to finding out about my past. You cannot stop me unless you have things you are keeping from me.” Anna was determined. Steve thought that Anna was going to let it go but after a while, she brought the topic up again. She said she wanted the body exhumed and if at all it was her mother's then she would let the matter rest. Anna kept repeating the same story until Steve couldn't take it anymore. He consulted the relevant authorities to exhume the body and just as Anna had hoped, it was not her mother! That begged the question, “Who is the person at the cemetery? Who is buried there and
