Chapter 5 Curiosity
The principal continued to praise Rosalynn, "Her papers have unique perspectives, and every one of them is qualified to be published in national journals."
"With her clinical and academic skills, she must have a great future ahead of her."
Rosalynn offered a modest smile. Before she had a chance to talk, Nathan enveloped her shoulders with his arms and said, "That's for sure."
He was pleased with the principal's praise for his girlfriend.
Arching his eyebrows, the principal observed Rosalynn and Nathan with curiosity, "Rosalynn, are you and Mr. Lambert…"
Rosalynn smiled graciously, "He's my boyfriend."
Nathan held her hand, "It's fiancé."
The principal cast a meaningful glance at Rosalynn, "You have a knack for selecting boyfriends too."
In response to this, Gerald let out a mocking chuckle, and the conversation was interrupted.
The principal almost forgot Gerald's presence. In the next moment, he offered respectfully, "Mr. Higgins, Mr. Lambert, would you care to take a stroll around the campus?"
"Sure." Nathan longed for a stroll with Rosalynn in his arms around the campus. It would be so romantic. He thought.
Rosalynn was usually busy writing her thesis or doing clinical work. Now Nathan finally got the chance to take a stroll with her hand in hand.
Gerald glanced at Rosalynn. He saw her raise her head to hold his gaze.
The two of them locked eyes, seemingly reminiscing the pleasure they had experienced that night.
Nathan held Rosalynn's hand with a strong grasp.
He lowered his voice, "Rosie, I want to kiss you now. Let's find a quiet place…"
Rosalynn put on a pouty face, "What about the principal and Uncle Gerald?"
All of a sudden, Nathan's cell phone rang.
He saw the caller ID and answered with a frown, "I'm busy now. The meeting starts at three, right? What did you say? Fine. I'm at the medical university."
Nathan turned around, only to see a captivating woman in a blue blouse and hip-hugging skirt walking over.
She walked up to Gerald and greeted him politely, "Mr. Higgins."
Unconcerned, Gerald gave a quick response, "Hi."
Then the woman approached Nathan, "Mr. Lambert, you have a lunch meeting scheduled with Mr. Natt. It's time to depart."
Nathan's brows furrowed. Clearly, he was upset, "Claire Yates, you're just a secretary. How dare you interrupt me?"
Claire hurriedly explained, "Mr. Lambert, I didn't mean to. I'm just here to remind you that Mr. Natt is your valued client."
Nathan gritted his teeth. He had no choice but to leave.
"Fine. Wait for me at the gate."
Claire nodded with respect. As she turned around, she threw a hostile glance at Rosalynn, who was standing beside Nathan.
How could Mr. Lambert fall for her? Claire thought to herself.
Nathan looked at Rosalynn apologetically, "Rosie, I…"
"It's okay." Rosalynn straightened his tie and comforted him in a considerate tone, "Don't worry about me."
Nathan nodded. He hugged Rosalynn and then left.
Rosalynn watched him walk away, then she stopped feigning a smile. In disgust, she patted her clothes touched by Nathan.
"You know he's having an affair with Claire, why don't you break up with him?" Gerald walked over to Rosalynn.
Curiosity stirred within him. Obviously, Rosalynn knew about the affair but she didn't expose it. She only secretly planned to take revenge on Nathan.
Besides, she willingly lost her virginity to Gerald for her revenge.
What a sacrifice!
Rosalynn laughed. A tempting smile crept on her face, "Uncle Gerald, be careful. You're getting curious about me."
After all, love stemmed from curiosity.
Gerald wore a solemn expression, "Ms. Brooks, you are not married to Nathan yet. Don't call me uncle. It's inappropriate. You'd better address me as Mr. Higgins."
Rosalynn stared at Gerald's stern face with suspicion.
She remembered the way he held her waist and gasped in her ear last night.
"Say my name."
"Uncle Gerald…"
"Again!"
Last night he had requested her to call him uncle in bed, but now he insisted on being addressed as Mr. Higgins.
The principal came to them after a phone call, "Mr. Higgins, excuse me, I have to leave. There are some urgent matters to take care of."
Gerald remained composed, "Sir, it's fine. Your favorite student can show me around."
The principal briefly reminded Rosalynn of a few things and then left in a hurry.
With her hands crossed behind her back, Rosalynn looked up at Gerald playfully.
Then Gerald's phone rang. He gestured for Rosalynn to wait for him, and then walked away to answer the phone.
"Sis."
Olivia's tone was cold, "Did you meet that shameless woman?"
Sensing the disgust in Olivia's voice, Gerald fixed his eyes on Rosalynn, who was bathing in the sunlight.
"Yes, I did."
"Nathan has crossed a line. How dare he propose to her?" Olivia questioned with anger.
"Gerald, you must help me deal with that woman. If she refuses to break up with Nathan, expel her from Oberton!"
Gerald dropped his gaze on Rosalynn, his countenance as cold as ice, "Got it."
Rosalynn stood in the sunlight in boredom, seeing Gerald return, she sauntered to him.
"Mr. Higgins, are you hungry?"
"Do you want to try the food in the canteen?"
Gerald scrutinized her gorgeous face and said in a faint voice, "No need. Let's make it quick."
After that, he strode towards a coffee shop not far away.
Rosalynn ordered at the front desk, and then the two of them sat in a booth near the window.
Gerald whipped out his checkbook and pen and started writing. Then he tore off a page and threw it in front of Rosalynn.
She picked it up and saw an astronomical number.
Five million!
"Are you paying me for my virginity?"
