I wandered further up the road. Everyone knows me here. They smiled at me, and I returned it with the same fervor. I didn't know what I should say and react when I knew I was going to die. The air turned warm against my skin. I darted my gaze around. I opened my mouth to shout but my tongue seemed to glue to the roof of my mouth. Was she here to end me?         A feeling of hopelessness settled over me. It was broken by the rustling of dried leaves
