CHAPTER 216: THE CONTRACT LOSS

While Lauretta sat lost on the sofa across the conference table where the revelational conversation was going on, the voices of everyone else grew distinct in her mind. She stared at the illuminating radiance of the chandelier right above her. As little as remorse or an apology which she expected seemed not to come from her offenders, they all seemed surprised, but none was smart enough to admit their wrong. She suddenly felt overwhelmed by the thought and feeling of being unappreciated. Unrecognized. Unaccepted. She felt she had made herself a joke in their eyes. All she had to do back then was put in a good word on George's behalf and boom, he got the collaborations which he sought. And all of a sudden he rises in wealth and status as well as his friend Benjamin- an ingrate who spewed nonsense earlier. She felt pricked by the knowledge that none of them could say a kind word to her despite her help all these years. People whom she'd helped. This made her think of human nature as
