　　"Then you go ahead first, I promise I'll be there on time!" 　　Her eyes were shining with tears, and she looked at him persistently. 　　"Lauren, don't be impulsive, not now, not this time," Terrence grit his teeth in frustration. 　　Lauren knew that he was hesitating, he was forcing his hands to stay on the steering wheel. For some reason, she was pretty sure that he would stop. 　　"Terrence, I have never ever been impulsive, please stop." 　　Terrence stepped on the brakes and engaged the reverse gear with the clutch. The car went backwards and stopped beside the puppy. 　　Its body was covered with mud, but it was easy to tell that its fur was white. 　　When it saw her, its tail was still wagging, even if it was trembling from the cold, it still treated everything around it with happiness, including the humans who had hurt it. 　　"Hey, don't be afraid, you have me now. I'll take care of you," she was like a child, speaking naively.
