Chapter 8

Louisa's POV It was a gigantic maze-like garden, just like the one that Harry Potter needed to go through to get the Goblet of Fire. On the other side of the maze, I could see a golf course, a tennis court, a giant swimming pool, and several swans cruising on a lake. I looked up and saw the mansion behind me. It wasn't a mansion. Technically speaking, it was a museum-like castle. I knew Lucas Sigler coming from a well-off family, but I hadn't thought that he was this kind of filthy one percent rich. A golf cart stopped in front of me and I recognized the one in the cart was Lucas' driver, Lucian. "Good morning, Miss Falco. Do you need a ride to get out of this place?" He was as polite and reserved as usual. I detected the hostility in his tone. So I said - "Look at you! You can drive a golf cart as well." I knew he was rolling his eyes in his mind. "You'd better hop on before I change my mind. It takes at least an hour to get out of this place on foot," he said. "You'll be late for your shift at the cupcake shop." How did he know that I had a part-time job at the cupcake shop?! I got on the cart and sat next to him. He shifted a bit to the other side as if I had some contagious disease. "Did you enjoy your sleep last night?" he asked. "I didn't have much sleep," I said. I didn't want to sound like a bitch, but I really didn't like the way he looked at me. "You don't really need to answer my question. It's a rhetorical question that I use to avoid awkwardness during the drive." Lucian said. "Lucas said you're a funny man. You're being rhetorical and funny at the same time." I talked back. He narrowed his eyes and I knew I was officially on his hate list. "I've driven countless women out of this place and they never come back," he said. "You're a bit too talkative and protective to be Lucas' driver. Are you his half-brother or something?" I asked. He raised an eyebrow and stared at me with surprise. "You're not as stupid as you look, Miss Falco," he said. "Is that because you've got a half-sister?" "She was ten years older than me. How about you?" I asked. "Same here," he replied. "So, you two have got the same father?" I asked. He got alert and warned in a stern voice, "Mind your own business, young lady. Don't ever mention Lucas' father in front of him." He was giving me tips on how to live with Lucas. That's kind of sweet. Then, I saw a statue. "Wolf," I said. Lucian's hands tremble for a bit while holding the wheel. The golf cart almost came off the road. "What did you just say?" he asked. I said, "I just saw a statue of a wolf. And I saw a painting of a wolf in Lucas' bedroom. It seemed that he really liked wolves." "Luke is from a very prestigious ancient family. Wolf is the emblem of his house. That's all." Lucian regained his calm and said. "Forget about the wolf. Did Luke say anything abnormal to you last night?" "He told me that he loves me. Twice. Does that count as abnormality?" Lucian immediately asked in a pressing voice, "What did you reply?!" I was a bit surprised by his sudden change of tone and voice. "I didn't say anything," I said. "I'm not an affectionate person. Plus, we've just met." "Very good, Miss Falco." Lucian seemed to be relieved. "I don't think young people nowadays understand what love is. They confuse lust and infatuation with love. It makes things very complicated." As we took a turn, I saw the gate of the mansion. I saw a posh Lamborghini standing next to the gate. It was Lucas' car. And then, I noticed there was something strange. The car was moving violently like someone was having a fight inside. As I got closer, I heard groaning and howling from it. What the... The car door opened up like a wing of an evil spirit. Jessica Bracco walked out with a flush on her face, busy putting on her dress. There were kiss marks all over her neck. As she saw me, she was surprised for a brief moment. After that, she smirked and said, "This is such a small world, isn't it?" "Don't forget to take this." I heard Lucas' voice. Then, I saw a muscular arm sticking out of the car window with a slutty bra. "Oh, how thoughtful of you, Luke! I almost forgot." Jessica gloated and took it. She leaned forward to the car and said, "Call me, tiger. Roarrrrrr..." Then, she took a glance at me and moved away, humming a song, with her bra swirling in her hand like some sort of flag of triumph. I was petrified. I couldn't believe this was actually happening to me. I lost my virginity to a man. He told me that he loved me. And within six hours, he got into another slut's pants... in his fucking car?! I totally lost it. I walked straight to the car and saw Lucas was cleaning himself with a Kleenex. He was surprised to see me. "Louisa! I..." He panicked, trying to get out, but his head bumped into the frame of the car door. "Ouch!" He covered his head and said. I pushed him back into the car and asked in a cold voice, "Are you in pain?" Lucas tried to pull me into the car and said, "Louisa, it's not what it looks like. Please listen to me." I pushed his stupid face back into the car and walked back to the golf cart. Lucian was just standing there. Even though his face was blank, I could tell that he was really enjoying this. I immediately knew he was behind all this. He wanted me to see what an asshole Lucas Sigler was. That was why he insisted on giving me a ride to the gate. Great. Bring it on, sucker.
