SABRINA'S POV
I stood in front of the mirror, adjusting the straps of my dress as my father’s words echoed in my head. Give Alex a chance. His insistence had been relentless, and for once, I had caved. I wasn’t sure why, exactly. Maybe I was tired of his lectures, or maybe I just wanted to shut him up for a while. Alex wasn’t bad-looking, and he was polite, respectful—everything my father would approve of in a man. But there was something missing, something I couldn’t quite put my finger on. Still, I’d agreed to the date, and now here I was, making an effort to look the part.
