Chapter seven
Raymond took Felicity to one of the most famous amusement park in New York. Felicity gasped at the beauty of it and ran around like the child she was, she wanted to ride everything ridable and kept pointing at anyone she see, Raymond and Morris followed behind, acting like her body guards. They first registered for her to ride the Ferries Wheel, she got in happily but when she saw that neither Raymond nor Morris got in too, her eyes teared up.
"What is she doing?" Raymond asked with a frown.
"I think she is about to cry sir" Morris answered.
"Why?" Raymond frowned "wasn't she happy about this a while ago? Does she suddenly want to change her ride?"
"I don't think that is the problem sir."
"Then what is it? Be out with it."
"I think she wants us to ride with her" Morris answered carefully.
Raymond looked at him unbelievably "I should get into that? When I was a child I didn't even ride it and you want me to ride it now?"
"It's what the lady wants sir."
Raymond looked at Felicity who was already dabbing at her eyes and looked at the man who was about to start the ride and heaved a frustrated sigh "hold it. One more ticket."
Morris was surprised, he never expected him to agree to her childish request, but whatever, he thought. Raymond collected the ticket and passed it to Morris who looked at him with confusion "what sir?"
"Well? You said she want us to join which means one is enough. You don't expect me to get in that do you?"
Morrie sighed, perhaps he concluded too fast, why will the Almighty Raymond Baldwin get in a childish ride because of a woman? He shook his head self depreciatingly and collected the ticket before getting into the ride next to Felicity whose eyes had brightened when she heard Raymond called for another ticket.
It became a rule of the day that whatever ride Felicity got in, Morris is not far behind. Raymond mainly searched for a coffee shop and sat down while he wait for them to finish their rides.
Finally, after two hours, Felicity got her fill and they left the rides to look for Raymond, they later find him sitting in one of the café's reading a magazine and sipping hot latte. Morris sighed and almost vomited out of anger, he was the one that suggested an amusement park and he has to be the one to suffer while he went enjoying himself with a cup of latte. After throwing all his grievances in his heart, he still took Felicity to go meet Raymond inside the shop.
Raymond looked up when the door opened as if knowing it was them. He chuckled when he saw Morris sweat drenched face and smiled when he saw Felicity's happy one which was smeared with ice cream "had a lot of fun?"
Felicity nodded like a chicken who was picking up grains on the ground before sitting on a chair opposite him "it's been a long time I visited the amusement park" she said in a tired but cheerful voice.
Raymond looked at Morris who was dabbing at his forehead while taking a seat and he felt like laughing before he heard what Felicity said, he looked at her immediately with a raised eyebrow "your aunty doesn't take you often?"
"She use to but not always. She promised me she will take me last week Saturday but had to cancel because of you" she picked up his cup and sipped his coffee.
Raymond was first surprised at what she said but shocked when she sipped from his cup, how could she do that? Talk about a man like him who is obsessed with cleanliness, he pushed the cup closer to her then and signaled for the waiter before asking "why is it because of me?"
Felicity unaware that the cup has been rejected happily picked it up with both hands and gulped down the remaining coffee, she dropped the cup on the table with a belch and cleaned her mouth with the back of her hand before answering "it was the day she told me that she did something in the office and you found out and was angry with her."
Raymond tried to pay less attention with the unclean way she acts and asked "did she say what she did?"
Felicity shook her head "she only said she did something and can only be forgiven if I marry you for a year" she looked at the waiter and pointed at a cake in the menu and also a cup of ice cream.
Raymond saw her order and can't help but sigh, even her order is like that of a child, he ordered another cup of latte and Morris ordered for a bottled water before looking at Felicity again after the waiter left "about that. I will be taking you to see my grand parents this weekend, if you are asked how we met, what are you going to say?"
"That my aunty annoyed you and you insisted to marry me for a year before you will forgive her" she answered honestly.
Raymond's eyes twitched as he looked at her frozen, by his side he heard Morris stifling a laugh and he glared at him before looking at Felicity again "Felicity, the main reason I asked to bring you out is to talk about this. Now listen" he sat up straight "if my grandparents ask you how we met, you will tell them that we met in a coffee shop just like this one, you were having a coffee and reading a book when I entered and you charmed me then I walked up to you and talked to you. We had an interesting evening, then exchanged our personal phone numbers and kept in touch. After a month, we fell in love and I asked you to marry me to which you said yes, do you understand?"
Felicity looked at him strangely "that's telling a lie. Aunty Katy told me to never tell a lie, why do you want to lie to your grandparents?"
Damn, this is going to be harder than he thought, Raymond sighed "listen Felicity, I'm not lying to them. It's their wish that I marry a girl I met in a coffee shop" he smiled "okay look, are we not in a coffee shop now?"
"But I'm not reading a book" she pouted "besides, you came to my home and you brought me to the amusement park so I'm not just meeting you, I already met you in my house."
Morris couldn't hold his laughter anymore and he spat out the water he has in his mouth, laughing really hard.
Raymond looked at him dangerously and Morris tried to hold himself as he apologized but the laughter refused to leave him and he ended up excusing himself and leaving the table. Raymond looked at Felicity again while dabbing at his hand which Morris spilt water with a napkin "let's just take it that we met here."
"I can't lie to your grandparents, I have always wanted grandparents and you that have shouldn't lie to them."
Raymond pinched the bridge of his nose frustratedly and sighed "Felicity" he called softly but with a hint of danger "you do as I say. You will tell my family what I ask you to tell them, is that clear?"
Sensing the warning in his tone, Felicity's eyes welled up. She almost cried but when she saw the waiter returning with her cake, her eyes brightened and she clapped her hands joyously. She had been worried when he only brought Raymond's latte and Morris's water but he had promised hers was on the way, so seeing it now made her happy.
Raymond couldn't believe how her mood swings, he thought she was about to cry? Why did she end up being happy instead? He let out a groan and relax in his chair while he watch her happily eat her cake. When she was done, he handed her a napkin to clean her mouth which was like she was thrown into the cake.
"Help me wipe it, aunty Katy always help me."
Raymond froze when he heard the request "what?"
"Help me wipe my mouth" she repeated.
