CHAPTER SIXTY-NINE: HEARTACHES

I found my words quite wise enough, and even if they weren't, how else was I supposed to get money?
Besides, if he had hired a lady to spend the night with, wouldn't he pay her?
I took a deep and calm breath and immediately headed back to the room, ascending the stairs I'd descended from earlier. All I kept hoping was that he shouldn't be awake yet.
Getting to the front of the room, I looked around again, just like I'd earlier done. There was no one around except a cleaner, who immediately entered the elevator and didn't even notice me. I returned my gaze to the door and breathed heavily for the umpteenth time.
I wasn't so sure if he was still asleep, so I bent over and peeped through the keyhole; thankfully, he wasn't awake yet.
“You can do this," I said to myself again, taking another deep breath, and slowly my right hand traveled to the door knob and twisted it open. I walked in immediately, and with my back facing the direction he was lying, I closed the door gently.
