CHAPTER SIXTY-SEVEN : MASKED PARTNER

Despite how hard I tried to prove my innocence, it wasn't working, and instead, matters kept worsening. It got to a point where I swore with the holy book, but the allegations against me didn't change.
I was served macaroons for breakfast, and for lunch, they brought me a plate of mashed potatoes and sauce. The dishes were so unpleasant in appearance that I almost vomited my lungs, and for a while, I wondered how they managed to taste so good despite how they looked.
I wasn't given any cutlery, so I had to eat with my hands out of hunger. Although I wanted to reject the food, after a second thought, I restrained myself because I knew I had to deal with the consequences of starving and not anyone else.
The detectives came after a long break from the interrogation, and I raised my head, staring at them meanly.
“The Police is your friend; don't glare at us,” one of the men said, and I sighed, sitting up while they settled opposite me.
