My eyes almost popped out of their sockets due to how wide they were..
“It was a what?...” I made him repeat his statement again and once again, my eyes grew wide.
“I'm sorry Mr George” he apologized while I closed my eyes in regret and frustration.
“Why didn't you tell me all this while?” my eyes flew open.
“Why didn't you tell me that Mae and I were no longer in a contract that could expire?... and you made me unable to stop her from marrying someone else even when the divorce papers got torn. Why!” I felt my tears building up in my eyes as I spoke.
“It wasn't my fault honestly, I realized that just a few weeks back. All this while, I never knew the second document you signed wasn't a contract agreement.. but the first one was a contract marriage agreement” he said and I sighed. His words weren't soothing a bit.
I wasn't that pained because of the lawyer's words but because of the fact that Mae got married to my greatest enemy..
