Chapter 46 Facts About Freya

Freya immediately recognized the person walking in as Patrick and couldn't help but wonder what he was doing there. She remembered that she had given him Lola's phone number when he had taken her home once. She hoped he wouldn't recognize her, so she quickly lowered her head. "Where's Lexi?" Patrick asked as soon as he entered. Being familiar with Patrick's position and reputation in the city, Abby stepped forward to greet him. "Patrick, are you here looking for Lexi? Unfortunately, she had some last-minute issues and couldn't attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony. I apologize for that." Patrick frowned. "She didn't attend the ceremony?" "Yes, Lexi has been extremely busy. It was quite a challenge to invite her, but something urgent came up, and she couldn't make it," Abby explained. Patrick blinked flirtatiously and reached out his hand towards Abby. "Miss, can you give me Lexi's number? Our boss needs to schedule a medical check-up with her." "Sorry, we only communicated with Lexi through online messages and don't have her number," Abby replied. "And what about your number?" Patrick asked with a naughty smile. Abby was shocked, and the truth about Patrick being a playboy finally dawned on her. Unable to find Lexi, he was now trying to flirt with her. Abby gave a curt smile and said nothing. The group of socialites who had just been deceived by Lola's actions now noticed Patrick's presence, and their eyes lit up with intrigue. They willingly gave him their contact information. "I'll give you my contact information," said one of the girls. "And mine too, Patrick. Remember to give me a call." Patrick graciously accepted their numbers, flashing a warm smile and even winking at them, causing the girls to scream in excitement. "Oh my god! Patrick is so attractive!" "Patrick winked at me! I'm about to faint from the excitement," another gushed. Freya, observing from the sidelines, sneered quietly. She realized that Madeline had been right about Patrick being a womanizer, as he was always ready to flirt with anyone he came across. Freya decided it was time to make her exit. She had lingered long enough, and if she stayed any longer, Frederick might start to suspect something. "Freya, stop right there!" Lola screamed, interrupting Freya's departure. Freya’s heart sank as she knew that Lola's outburst would only make things chaotic, making it even harder for her to evade Patrick's attention. Quickly lowering her head, she hurriedly ran away, leaving the commotion behind. As she ran, the scent of magnolia filled the air, and her long hair flowed in the wind like silk. Patrick suddenly turned his head, catching sight of a familiar silhouette. It was her! His heart skipped a beat, and a slight smile tugged at the corners of his lips as he reached out to hold her hand. "Freya?" Patrick was certain that he hadn't mistaken the person before him. This girl was the one he had been yearning for. "Oh no, I've gotten myself tangled up again," Freya thought to herself. Freya halted and deliberately tussled her hair, turning her head to naively smile at Patrick. "Sir, you must have mistaken me for someone else." Frederick was at the door of the clinic, which was why she had to maintain her charade of a foolish girl. "It's impossible. I can recognize you no matter what." That day, her face had been deeply etched in Patrick's memory. Although the girl in front of him appeared foolish and clueless, he would never mistake her appearance. Freya continued her silly laughter, urging, "Let go of me! I don’t know you." Patrick stared fixedly at her, taken aback by her audacity to play dumb and act as if she didn't know him. He found her strange as she seemed to relish in the game she was playing. As Patrick pondered, Frederick approached them and greeted him respectfully, "Hello, sir." Subsequently, Frederick looked at Freya and remarked, "Mrs. Austin, it has been a while since we left the house. It is time for us to return home." Patrick couldn't believe his eyes as he gazed at Freya, realizing that the flawless woman he had yearned for was actually Bradley's new wife. He found it utterly frustrating! Patrick had been pining for the woman who belonged to Bradley all this time. Bradley, he reasoned, would be furious if he knew. Patrick felt an overwhelming sense of remorse. He had finally found a woman who captivated his interest, only to discover that she was his closest friend's wife! He couldn’t believe his luck. Patrick clutched his chest as his heart broke. Freya pondered Patrick's glum expression, unable to comprehend what was bothering him. She followed Frederick into the car without asking any questions. She had just acquired a few medicinal herbs from the HealWell Clinic, which she planned to incorporate into Bradley's meals to aid his condition. As she departed, Patrick muttered under his breath, "Freya." It was evident to him that this girl was the same one from their encounter during the performance. At the Shangri-La Bar, she exhibited wit and intelligence, but today she was feigning ignorance. Patrick couldn't fathom the reason behind this behavior. He assumed that Bradley probably had no idea his wife was the girl who performed at the bar the other day. But he couldn't grasp why she would pretend to be dumb. Numerous questions echoed in Patrick's mind, ultimately leading him to a conclusion: the girl was pretending to be clueless to retain her position by Bradley's side. The people from the Royal Garden Mansion were in the area, so she pretended to be oblivious so they wouldn't discover her real identity. Patrick became alert out of nowhere, and he hastily whirled around. He decided to contact Bradley immediately and fill him in on what was going on. ... Lola watched with envy in her heart as Freya left the clinic in a luxury black car. Bradley, who was handicapped and unattractive, was generous to Freya and was willing to spend a fortune on her. Lola estimated that the value of just the dress Freya wore today was in the thousands of dollars. In addition, the shoes Freya was wearing were the latest limited edition from Louis Vuitton, with only ten pairs in existence worldwide. Lola had always coveted those shoes, but now they adorned Freya's feet. Lola's fists tightened as she felt resentment well up inside her. "Ethan is attractive, but that’s not enough. I’ve been going out with him for days yet gained no benefits," Lola thought. The worst part was that Ethan insulted her over the phone, causing her to become the joke of the high society circle. The socialites' remarks towards her just now were incredibly harsh, even going as far as threatening to blacklist her from the circle and sever all ties with her. Lola was enraged and believed that all of this was solely Freya's fault. If it weren't for Freya constantly playing tricks on her, Ethan wouldn't have ended their relationship, and she wouldn't have endured humiliation from the socialites. Despite Freya's seemingly foolish demeanor in her speech earlier, Lola could see the smart glints in her eyes. Lola had a faint suspicion that Freya wasn't as naive as she appeared; in fact, quite the opposite. She couldn’t believe a fool could continuously outwit both Lola and Ethan. As this realization dawned on her, Lola's eyes widened in astonishment. She wondered if Freya had been pretending to be dumb the whole time. With this revelation, Lola hurriedly made her way home, as she figured she needed to inform her parents about this. If Freya was truly just a fool, they could still exert some control. However, knowing that Freya was playing tricks on them while maintaining her facade of innocence was not a good sign. She needed to consult her parents on how to deal with Freya. While sprinting, she became concerned about the baby inside her belly and hurried to the nearest pharmacy to purchase a pregnancy test. She would put the blame on Ethan regardless of the circumstances if she could prove she was pregnant.
