Encounter
Austin's POV
As no one is speaking between us during the whole ride, I just focused on my driving and constantly glancing over her who is currently looking through the window, letting out a deep sigh and also glancing at me. Looks like she has a lot of things going on in her mind and she just cannot voice it out.
"Why are you glancing over me?" I asked as I cannot take any longer silence while she's stealing glances from me.
"Nothing." she answered and look outside again.
"Don't ever try doing it." I said to her seriously, but I was about to burst into laughing right now.
"What do you mean?" she asked and looked at me
"Don't ever try having a crush on me." I suddenly said to her, and she just laughs it off. I just smiled and laughed also.
"Silly punk." She just said while still laughing.
"Why are you looking at me?" I asked again.
"I said it's nothing." She answered and I did not say anything again.
I continued driving until we reached the medical facility where Aina, her friend is staying. We will pick her up as Yana thought that we should have meeting for today. I don't know what she's planning to do but I guess she loves meeting and planning more than other people. Now that I think of it, she's very a strategical person, she always wanted to plan beforehand and execute everything according to it, one by one. I parked the car in front of the building as we waited for her to exit from there. I saw Aina leaving the building and has a huge smile on her face, which I don't know the reason behind it. She approached the car and get in the backseat immediately.
"Yana! I heard everything from dad, you're flirting with him?!" Aina yelled as soon as she sat on it.
"What are you saying? Uncle is just seeing things." Yana answered.
"Why are being so defensive while Austin is just being quiet?" Aina asked and we both looked at each other.
"Such a déjà vu, right?" Yana asked and I just nod at her.
"What do you mean?" Aina asked.
"You don't have to know." I simply answer.
"What?!" Aina suddenly yelled.
"What is your problem?!" Yana yelled back.
"You're hiding something from me?!" Aina shouted.
"No, we are not!" Yana answered back.
"Why are you both yelling at each other?!" I said to the both of them.
"What? She did it first!" Yana said.
"You're hiding something!" Aina said.
"You should've said anything!" they both yelled at me.
"Shut up, both of you. Is this the meeting you're talking about? If yes, then I am out." I said to them and started removing the seatbelt. Yana held my arm and shook her head slowly without saying anything.
"Where are we going?" I asked them seriously.
"Aina's house." Yana answered.
"What? Why are we going to my house?" Aina intervenes.
"We have no place to crash to." Yana said and just laughs.
I started driving again and remembered that I haven't been at Aina's house, so I looked at Yana who's only looking through the view.
"I put the address on the map, don't look at me like a lost kid." Yana said and I glance at the map she's talking about.
Couple of minutes passed by and we're already in front of Aina's apartment, Aina told us that she will get off first and clean her place as she did not know that the meeting will be held in her building. We entered the basement parking lot and searching for a vacant spot all over the floor, but we haven't seen any. We drove towards the next basement level to look for the spot but strangely enough, today is such a hectic day to people going in and out of this apartment.
"Let's just park the car on the building beside this." Yana suggested and I drive the car towards the exit and head straightly to the next building beside this.
"Did you already text her?" I asked.
"We don't have to, we'll be back immediately." She answered and I just nods.
I saw a vacant spot at the corner of the building, I hurriedly drive towards that place and successfully park the car. We removed our seatbelts and get off the car, I turned the alarm on, and we made through the exit of the building.
"Is that Dylan?" I heard Yana said and looked at the side where she was looking at.
"What? Why would you see him here?" I asked.
"I have no idea." She said and hurried to the place where she saw him.
"Dylan?" I heard her said to a guy.
Quianna's POV
"Dylan?" I said to a guy facing his back on me. I don't know why I did that, but he looks so similar with Dylan, but something is odd. He looked at me and he looks very shocked, well, I guess both of us.
"Yana…" he just said to me.
"Why are you here? I thought you have something to do at the company?" I asked him and he seems indifferent with me, why is that?
"Yeah, I just have work near here." He answered but cannot look straight into my eyes, this guy is lying.
"Really? Then let's have lunch together at Aina's." I offered.
"No, I have plans." He immediately rejects and leave me hanging.
"What was that?" I just said.
"Are you okay?" Austin asked as he walked beside me.
"I don't know. Let's just go to Aina's" I said, and we walked towards another building. While me still looking at the road where Dylan run towards to. I can't understand why he treated me like that, I mean he could have said it plainly, but he looks so scared? Surprised? But somewhat looks caught in red-handed? I am not sure anymore.
We arrived in front of the Aina's apartment door and constantly rings the doorbell but she's not answering. I looked through the peek hole and I saw a woman standing but I cannot see her face. I began knocking as loud as I can on the door and it suddenly opens, showing Aina who's drying her hair. I can't believe she just took a bath while waiting for us. She opened it bigger and offered us to come in.
"When did you left the apartment, Yana?" Aina asked me as soon as I entered.
"What are you saying? I haven't arrived since you left a while ago." I answered.
"Really? That's strange, I think I saw you when I arrived here." She just said and start fixing the table.
"I saw Dylan." I started.
"What? Where? You should've asked him to join." Aina answered.
"He ran away like a scared kid." Austin answered.
"And I think I also saw someone looking like that before." Aina said.
"What is going on here?" I just asked and silence breaks in the place.
We started eating and no one dares to talk about the strange happenings around us. We know that it may be related to our odd encounters, but we don't dare to speak any as we don't know where to start. I looked on them who's eyes are glued on the food prepared, they get food calmly as possible, but Aina sometimes matches my gazes.
"Alright, I can't take this." Aina suddenly said and we both looked at her.
"What do you mean?" Austin asked.
"We need to state all the things happened to us from the beginning." Aina answered.
"What do you mean, we?" Austin asked again.
"You see, I kept seeing things and eventually forgot about it." she said and put down the utensils she's holding.
"Care to explain?" I said.
"If both of you receiving messages from unknown person or people, I think I was with a person all this time, but my memory became hazy all of a sudden." She explained.
Now that I think of it, I saw a woman earlier inside this apartment, I looked at Aina as she looks different from that woman. I don't know anything beside from her physique and hairstyle, but I know that it's impossible it to be Aina. I stood up and made my way towards the bathroom, I looked at the mirror and it looks somewhat similar to me. I know it sounds crazy but what if Aina can see the other me, I mean I am still uncertain about the existence of parallel universe but if the messages coming from me and Austin's same number, if Aina can actually see the other me and forgot it eventually whenever she met me, then I saw the other Dylan a while ago? Everything was put into its right places. The puzzle becoming more and more specific and detailed enough to see the bigger picture. I looked around her apartment and everything seems to be in two items, there were two toothbrushes, towels, even shampoos here in the bathroom. I went outside and opened her closet, it still looks the same clothes Aina is wearing but others are seems similar with mine. I roam through the kitchen, and I saw utensils in the drawers and in dishes, it's not normal for a person living alone.
"What are you doing? Surprise inspection?" Aina said to me with her arms crossed.
"Have you ever observed that the things here are more than one?" I asked her.
"Really? For me it feels like it's already been there originally." She answered.
"That's what I thought." I just said and walked towards the living room where Austin is sitting comfortably.
