Chapter 75: Scattered Emotions

Rick's POV: "I don't know," Lizzie said, sounding conflicted. "I mean, I'd like to spend some time with you, but I'm not sure if this is the right time." Rick felt his heart sink, but he knew he had to keep trying. "I understand," he said, keeping his voice calm. "I just thought it might be good for us to have some time away from everything, you know? To really talk things through." There was another long pause, and then Lizzie spoke again. "I'll think about it," she said, and then she ended the call.
